PS3...thoughts so far

I don't believe I said I will never buy a PS3, because I'm going to. Especially when they announce the next God of War and Kingdom Hearts. I just need to save up. I forgot about the Circuit City thing though Neo, thanks for the heads up. I think that's my best option. I'm still going to wait for the games to come out though, like I should have done with the Wii.

Only reason I bought a PS3 (again, might I add) :D :-X was for the Blu-Ray because I bought a 61 inch Samsung 1080p TV. It is really amazing the difference between HD (whether it be Blu-Ray or HD-DVD) and a regular DVD when compared side-by-side with the same movie. I was one of the non-believers until we did the side-by-side comparisions. Even just watching HBO on 501 and HBO-HD on 509 of the same movie is an amazing difference. Yes, the games are not up-to-par yet, but I am sure they will be. It is just tough to figure which to buy for when I own all 3. I bought Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End for the kids on the PS3 and it looks great at 1080p though.

And, my Wii just sits there unless the kids, wife, and I play Wii Sports or Wii Play together (we made Friday Nights our family nights to make English Muffin Pizzas and play the Wii).

And my other point earlier is that there are systems I do not like, but you do not see me posting non-stop in them. It just gets to a point where you get tired of reading through the posts of, it costs too much, it has Blu-Ray, and so on and so on. We all know this and we all would love it to be cheaper, but it is not. We really do not control the price. But, for me, it was a lot cheaper than buying a Stand-Alone Blu-Ray Player and I get to play PS3 and PS2 Games to boot. That is not a bad deal!

Honestly, I have yet to meet a person who wants to pay $1000 for slightly better quality.

It is not slightly better. It is like Day and Night difference. Even the local channels that show in HD, I cannot even watch the regular local channels. Same goes with the movies. You can see it is totally different between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD compared to DVD. It is worth the money and there are millions of people that would and have paid for the difference.

You just won't give up, will you? You could argue your point for 8 pages couldn't you? $600 not that much for you? What's your job dude, own a lawfirm or something?

But everyone seemed to get along fine with normal DVDs, didn't they? I'm fine with that, we really don't care for the better quality, the standard isn't horrible at all, and is quite watchable. Watching TV is good. Spending $1000 to say you can watch nicer TV isn't.

I work for the Police Dept, but I take care of the Cisco Routers and Switches and Servers now rather than be on the road. I have my Cisco Cert, MCSE, Novell Cert, etc.... But, you have to remember, I have about 20 years on you in age. That is why $600.00 really is not that much to me, in fact, my car payment is that much monthly.

DVD's are okay, but amazing difference when switched to HD. Also, regular cable sucks on a TV any larger than 42 inches, so you need a cable box or HD. The market changes you know! Things will become obselete. Do you still buy VHS? I have not bought VHS in 10 years! Notice how DVD's now have sales for $4.99 each and so. That is what happened to VHS. Times change!
 
Times change, no duh, but we're not far enough for even HD to be the norm, let alone Blu-Ray.

We're alot closer than you think. HD and Bluray DVD's are supposed to overtake regular DVD's within the next few years.

And? I said it's not now, and guess what? It isn't. HD will be up in the next few years, but Blu Ray is way expensive still, so that'll wait 'til much later.

I'll just stick with my HD now and my Blu-Ray and HD-DVD's! The picture is a HUGE difference and it is not that much for the movies if you use half.com or eBay. And the PS3 is not that much either when you get Blu-Ray and get to play games! Also, you cannot find a TV without HD anymore. So, it will be here quicker than you think!
