I hate chests where it's tricked with monsters or poison or traps. :( I want goodies, not injuries!
Mimics on Dark Cloud. O_O

They scare the living daylights out of me!!! xD

You know what I hate? Empty treasure chests. What the flux.

Yea I never understood the point of those!

As far as mimics, the small ones ain't too bad, but those king mimics rough me up pretty bad. I hate those things.

I'm not a big fan of the way they use treasure chests in "FF XII".There's all these stupid % odds of getting a decent item or getting crap. When I played it,I got more crap than useful treasure.Who needs a phoenix down at level 60?! If you haven't got a huge amount of those by that level, you need psychiatric help.

Not to mention the fact that the big weapons chests sometimes poison you, curse you, or explode. And the curses can be really annoying. =/

They can't be any more annoying as the status effects caused by a Malboro's "Bad Breath" attack in "Final Fantasy" titles can they? :lol

My favorite system as far as spells go is the system they used in "Star Ocean The Second Story"(PS1).The more you used any given spell the more flashy it got.If they haven't already,I would love to see that feature in an RPG again.

Do you think that today's RPG'S don't have enough variety of monsters?A lot of "FF titles take one monster, give it a different color then call it something different. To me that's lazy.

Most rpgs do that. It's a space saving feature. As you know, DVDs can only hold so much information. Blu-rays can hold a lot more but they still have limits. If they had to make every monster different, that would leave less room for the plot, the combat system, the AI, the music, the backgrounds, etc. I mean you could possibly do it and then have the game just span several discs, but it makes more sense just to repeat monsters than to sacrifice something else more important.

What Mai said. Also, try yourself sometime to come up with just 10 completely unique and different monsters that you could use as enemies in an RPG. And I mean drawing them, naming them, creating their stats, etc,. Trust me, it's hard to even come with up 5! Concept work is *extremely* hard and takes a great amount of time, so the recycling of enemies does not bother me very much.

recycled enemies allows me to know when i am in a high leveled area and when i am in a low level area so they are sorta useful to me.. (if i am in a area with weird colored goblins.. i went too far XD *reference to old RPGs though*)

I know what you mean there.

Same with Shin Megami Tensei games. They recycle enemies, magic, items, etc....but it's always awesome.

hey i prefer the same mythological monsters over and over again than getting 100 new crappy ones every installment *looks at pokemon*

QFT.

If they stopped creating new ones, it might leave room for them to update the gameplay itself.

That being said, I'm actually excited for remake of Pokemon Silver. <3

Exactly, I wasn't saying it was a bad thing.

i was trying to agree with you, sorry if it sounded like the opposite

Ive realized, the only game where the Beserk status is REALLY that horribly bad is Fire Emblem. Im on the final chapter and I just killed 8 ****ing bosses just for the final door to open and someone beserking Bartre. Plus the game lies to you. It says that the beserk status makes people attack the nearest unit, be it friend or foe. So I put my unit with the most Evade next to my beserked dude, Bartre. Guess what happens? Bartre goes for Eliwood, the main character, and nukes him. Game over.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
