RPG Discussion Thread

I love building mode, as well as upgradable weapons/items and of course, multiple ways for the game to end. =D

Story is my favorite, so if the game doesn't have a really good story then I'm out. Other than that, I love treasure. I'm a treasure nazi and frequently annoy my friends by backseat gaming and insisting they go back for treasure when they are playing. ;)

Woah, monster thread. xD
But I think I forgot to mention KH, then again, I don't really count KH as an RPG, more of a strategy/adventure game... Wait... that's an RPG >.<
But it doesn't have the feel of an RPG, ya know?

A big thread like this should make it easier for Kaz to know where to post all his topics about RPG stuff without having to use the Search function to make sure it's not already posted. The answer is: YES. It has been posted. In this thread.

Anywho.

Latest rpg I've been playing is Fallout 3. I really love it.

I was playing Dragon Age: Origins, but I don't really dig the battle system. Which is unfortunate, since it has such awesome characters and a cool story.

Care to explain a bit more, because I'm still debating on whether or not to get it. What exactly is it that you don't like about the battle system?

Dragon Age's battle system is somewhat similar to the FFXII gambit system, except that it's realtime instead of turn-based. You basically have your party members who you can set to do actions in a specific sequence. You can let them fight on their own based on the gambits you have set up, but you can also make them do things if you need them to by bringing up a menu while you're in combat. If you do that, it freezes the action until you close the menu. Your own actions are set to hotkeys.

Well to be honest, now that I think about it, it's probably my own fault for sucking at setting up the gambits and setting up my party in general. I just die a lot. If not for that it's actually a pretty interesting system. Sometimes if I have the gambits set right it's pretty easy.

I understand. From now on I shall post RPG subject matter to this thread.Thank you Mai :)

I don't suppose anyone has a copy "FF III" for the SNES that they would care to part with? :)

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good RPG(S) with some juicy replay value? :)

KoToR definitely has huge replay value. Another one is Tales of Symphonia and I am guessing Tales of Abyss as well.

I'm...so..confused...I made an RPG Discussion thread....4 years ago? :lol Looks like a bunch were merged to clear up some room, lol.

Do You Find Today's RPG'S Are Way Easier Than The Ones 20 Years Ago?

I think RPG'S these days are a cakewalk compared to the ones from the early 90's.I think "FF 1" for the nes was around at the time and was very hard to play."Dragon Warrior" titles for the nes I remember being difficult at times.I just think that today's RPG's baby us too much.

God Bless,
Kaz
