Why Not PS1 Titles On UMD?

All You bases are belong to us.
Today I was wondering why Sony doesn't put some of the PS1 titles, that it has on its network, on UMD. They could be put together into collections, maybe two or three to a UMD disc. (Yeah I know they can be downloaded) But someone like me would purchase such an item. I am on dial-up so I cannot take advantage of the network. Another problem with taking advantage of the Sony Network is that I use Linux on my computers. The program that you must download to use the Network is Windows only. I know that if you are near a hotspot, you can use the WI-FI, but I do not know of any locally. But at the same time, the cost of games to download plus the need for those large size Duo memory sticks, I'd rather have the UMD. I know that maybe the PS1 downloadable games are mainly, or probably, some sort of support for the PSP Go, but the market right now is really in the PSP 3000. The Go is really not taken seriously by gamers that I know.
The UMD booklet could include history, codes, and information concerning the game, or games. Some sort of collector thing. Maybe some sort of special things included like that would sweeten the package.
I know that I am dreaming, but does this strike a nerve with anyone else.

The only problem with putting them on physical media is that it is an investment for the company. Putting a game on UMD, marketing the packages, and transportation to retail stores takes money that they might not recoup.

I guess, that is true. It depends on whether or not there is a new generation of gamers out there that did not live in the PS1 era and would go for the games. Old gamers like me would be more than happy to have some of that stuff on the go and in my collection.

Then again it might fit in with the focus that Sony is doing with the PSP 3000 right now. Especially with the new price point of $9.99 on older UMD games. Some of those games falling into that category beats purchasing the used.

Exactly, not to mention, PS1 titles aren't exactly selling like hot cakes. Especially on the PSP. That's why you don't see many re-releases anymore on physical media.

You mean that they are not selling on the Sony Network for the PSP Go? They are an unpopular item?

In general. Both regular PSN and for the PSPGo. They sell, but not enough to warrant publishing them on UMDs.
