Metroid Prime 3 discussion.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

*points out Dragon Blade* Too true, Mai. It's not actually Nintendo's game, though. I'm glad it has 'no hype'. Honestly, things are advertised a lot because they have flaws. Like vacuums(read it somewhere on the internet). The less advertised a vacuum is, the better it is. Same with Prime 3. It's awesomeness will be spread by buyers to other potential buyers.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

idk i think lack of hype may be a good thing for several reasons

no standing in line on launch day

no kids skipping school (shouldf be starting by then) to buy it

and no shortages, which wouldnt happen anyway

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

Standing in line for games/systems is major fun, though, 'cause everyone's talking about it and LANing and all that. It's fun to hang out with people like you you've never even met for a few hours. Kids skipping school, makes sense, but uh, parents? Shortages. That would be like Halo 3's five million preorders that will all be filled? Shortages don't...ever?...happen on software.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

i know, but im just saying loads of hype probably wouldnt help.

as for skipping school...idk if i will for halo 3, or just get less sleep and go to the midnight launch

I really don't think a lack of online will cause that. Metroid Prime 3 has enough merit in its single player campaign to avoid that pitfall.

It was just a reference to Zelda not doing so well. Usually, when a game is overhyped with single player being the sole purpose of the game, won't do so well. Especially for a FPS-type game like MP 3.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

It is more FPA, though.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

Yeah, like Turok. But still, any time a game is overhyped for its single player, it better deliver. It looks like MP 3 is going to surpass MP 2 in leaps and bounds, but still. I actually think it's alright that this isn't getting super hyped. I do, however, think that Nintendo should start putting out commercials or contests and stuff to get the name out there to a wider group of people.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

Definitely let me know. When I get another Wii in a couple months, I'll be dying to know. :)

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

Lucky hines. :lol I want that game still. But Halo is all i want.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

This game is too awesome for hype. You have to be an exclusive member of 'Oh my god, new Metroid game!' to know about it and want it.

Well TP has sold really well actually. I think its almost up to four million copies now. Its done pretty well for itself from a sales perspective...

EDIT: I was looking only at the Gamecube sales figures, which are around 1 million, but I fixed it to include the Wii...

i woke up today to see my wiis blue light on, only thinking it was a message from a friend. but i was wrong, its a whole new channel called the metroid prime 3 preview channel, and its free.

no demos are included, just videos, and more of them will unlock on the 13th

so i guess we were wrong about the hype thing, guys :lol

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

It sold 1.5 million in its first week or whatever.

Re: Metroid Prime 3 Preview Channel.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I noticed my Wii glowing but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Sounds awesome, though.

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

Look, what would the average gamer rather do? Save the galaxy with macho dual-wielding guns or by solving puzzles?

Re: Metroid Prime 3: The Anti-Hype (IGN editorial)

Yeah, but Metroid is about more than solving puzzles, just like Zelda is. If they played up the fps aspect of Metroid it could do a lot for the game, especially with the Wii controls making it so accurate.
