Mario Kart DS...amazing story just happened to me!!

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Okay as I'm writing this..it's 203am here in Texas...I was in the middle of playing a game of Mario Kart DS via WiFi.

I'm racing against this guy from Japan, his name was in Kanji text, so I have no clue what it meant, right?

Yet here's the icing on the cake...the font for his nickname was RED (dead give away that something was not right about this guy...)...and his icon was a perfect Mario image..I mean it looked professional! He was playing as Luigi in his normal cart (The polterguest 4000 one)

Okay in Mario Kart DS you cannot change the color of the font..so I did a lil research from a few various nintendo related forums and websites..

Nintendo.com forums claim that only certain people of Nintendo's branches (Nintendo of America or Nintendo of Japan) have that kind of ability to change the font color and such to reconize who they are or who they play against...

So I took the Kanji from what I remembered what it looked like and tried to figure out what it meant, so after looking at various Mario box arts (since it was the only evidence I could dig up to connect to the image of Mario)...and it translated to "SUPERMARIO" :lol

This only means...I got to race ONE on ONE against....Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto himself!!!

Sadly, he quit right in the middle of the 2nd track on Luigi's Mansion...we raced the SNES Mario Circuit 1 however...

I swear it was him...that guy is like "Where's Waldo" with a big red hat!

ok... but that would mean that anyone that there are a few people at least that can do this?  Are you sure it would be Shigeru Miyamoto?

That's cool though!!  Pretty crazy :)

So it was a professional looking image?  Was it done in the same pixel editor or whatever?

wonder why he quit half way through.

BTW.... how do you know he was from Japan?    AND who won the 1st track?
How did you come up with that name just looking at the Kanji text?

It was a perfect Mario image on a red background, looked like a flag literally. I dont know what kind it was

The Kanji text I reconize from any Super Mario Japanese game. (ones that I have now and the the GBA Mario import I once had

Look at the First three symbols in this photo...that's EXACTLY what he had!

similar to a /-/-/ (Symbol-Symbol-Symbol) without the two hypehens (dash= -), they pretty much mean "Super Mario" or to break it down in their grammar... "Mario Su-per"

I think that would be against Nintendo's original Wifi idea, which is "keeping it simple". :P

Although I think chat features would be nice.

did you see that Metroid DS is going to be voice chat capable? :)

Bv :hat

IT IS?!

*Googles it* THAT IS SWEET! Only for before and after matches, though. I guess it's really only there so you can decide fairly on a good game mode to play... and to keep trash talkers out xD

Still, that is awesome. Can't wait to get my DS back now.

yeah, that's why I said if only Mario Kart DS had voice chat
guess I should have said too

Wait, I think I've raced against him before.

And, if it is him, I've beaten him.

Crazy, eh?

EDIT: Yep, it was him. WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Yeah, but, still, this is an important moment for me.

I BEAT THE CREATOR OF MARIO. Yay.

He's the creator of Mario, right? I forgot...
