Is the ps3 really worth it?

I'm saving my money for a ps3, i really want to play GOW and other exciting games. I was looking at othersystems and the dsi and the new ds3 look cool too. I know that the ds3 is going to be in 3d too. So i dont know what to get. Or should i just wait longer for something else? I need help. Is the ps3 worth the money?

There's probably more if you go back even further, but those are the more recent ones.

There are a few downsides to the PS3 you should probably know about.

One thing being that it's really hard to find a backwards compatible PS3 console. So unless you get lucky, or until they make all of them backwards compatible, you won't be able to play any PS2 games you have. Of course, if you still have a PS2, or if you're more interested in playing games from this generation, then you're probably okay.

Another thing is that on PSN now, you can still play games online for free, but apparently you have to be a paid subscriber to PSN to get demos.

You get exclusive early demos. Using free PSN you can still access any demo. It's more of a timed release for subscribers.

Demos are still free. The PSN + offers you earlier access to those demos before anyone else pretty much. You will still be able to get the demo if you are in no rush.

As for the PS2 BC, a tragic loss. Yet, what about this poll to bring it back from Sony's community? It's worth a shot if they listen to the people.

Bring PS2 Emulation back to PS3.
