Would you buy a Blu-ray 360?

Rumors are circulating about Microsoft releasing a Blu-ray 360.

Would you buy it?

Personally, while it's tempting, I think I would still get a PS3 eventually because I want some of its games.
 
If I didn't have one already I probably would. Plus I would also get a PS3 eventually as well for the games.

I would say that this would be a risky move by Sony as far as the console wars are concerned. Sure they would have more players in households, which means more Blu-ray movies being sold, but this could also keep people from buying a PS3.
 
No, the US Consumers would be angry when they learn about it, too many "OLD 360" would be traded in by the masses, and people would be demanding the new one or jump over to PS3 market (Which ever comes first). It would be the biggest headache.

Microsoft turning into another Sega by releasing another edition or modded version of their system or what? It needs to end. Variety is great, but man it's a pain and CONFUSING to sit there and explain 3 to 4 systems of the same brand to a customer over and over again.

Sony is guilty, Microsoft is guilty. Nintendo...simple...1 Wii, 1 DS Lite to rule them all....

Microsoft making a Core Unit, a Pro Unit, and an Elite...then giving users an optional HD-DVD player claimed it was paying the same as a PS3 (which was a lie)...then which bombed...and everyone is dumpin' HD-DVD quicker than Paris Hilton's career.

Sony made a 20GB, 60GB, and an 80GB...1 that plays everything perfectly...1 that does jack squat when it comes to PS2 games with a fatter drive....1 that can't connect to the PSP (20GB)...killed them off...now a 40GB...then another 40GB with no free movie...then a rumor of 120GB or 160GB.

*phew*...let's just say, out of all the systems I've seen in my time, this is the biggest market blunder and there's really nothing we can do about it, since they have the market on the strong hold.
 
Yeah, I'm so sick of all the different versions. It'd be fine if one was fully functioning, but missing some optional stuff(harddrive space, some of the USB ports, depending on how many there are) for cheaper, and one more expensive one with everything, but damn. Something always gets removed to make it cheaper, and it's always something important.

No freaking clue. It's still a rumor at this point, so I don't think even Microsoft knows how expensive they would make a Blu-ray PS3. I wouldn't be surprised to see them selling them at a lose so it stays within the price range of the PS3.
 
Microsoft JUST turned a profit on the 360's..so I'm sure they wouldn't want to take a big hit. If they did, they'd probably drop something like backwards compatibility or a hard drive (as inconceivable as it sounds).
 
I don't even see it raising 360 sales any, so there wouldn't be much point in doing it.

Microsoft has very deep pockets. They would be able, and probably willing to take a short term hit on console to increase long term sales and profits.

Backwards compatibility is software emulation, and isn't costing them much money on the console, and dropping a hard-drive simply isn't something Microsoft is stupid enough to do.
 
Yeah, they've been losing money since the original Xbox, I think they're used to it.

Microsoft has deep pockets..but not when it comes to the 360, and I doubt Blu-ray would make them want to take a bigger loss. Keep in mind, even the $600 PS3's were taking a loss because of Blu-ray.

PS3's have always been taking losses, as have 360's. I think the 360 might have just pulled out of the loss on every console, though.

Yeah, PS3 pulled out a little while ago too. I don't think the 360, already having some years under its belt, and finally making a profit, would want to go back into the loss column. That's just me though, believe what you will.

If they think it will help in the long run to compete against the PS3(since they've stated they're going after it), I could see 'em doing it.

Then I think it'll shoot them in the foot. Like Mega said, too many people with the old one would be trading it in or hopping over to the PS3 side, making the loss even greater.

But at the same time, you could say it's for Microsoft to be on a more equal footing with the PS3, making people have to decide between games and stuff, as opposed to wanting Blu-ray or not.

Yeah, my thoughts as well. This whole multiple sku thing is way ridiculous. And now Sony is getting rid of the 80 gig, and then unbundling the one that has Spiderman 3, which is bound to be confusing.

Having only one sku is probably one of the best things Nintendo did this gen. :D

But that doesn't do anything about the people who already purchased a 360 and will want the Blu-ray player. Buying an add-on will be expensive. Also, that's also assuming Microsoft takes a hit on price.
