Wireless Network Adaptors

Okay, to start with, I have NO idea how these work. At the moment, I'm thinking I can just plug it into the back of my 360 and I can go on XBL right there and then. I'm probably way off though :lol

Basically, downstairs I can go on Xbox LIVE by putting the little grey clip into my router.

However, I don't have a computer or anything in my bedroom upstairs so I can't just do it like that there.

So how exactly does a wireless network adaptor work?

You need a wireless router in order for that adaptor to kick in.

I'm not too fimilar with how Wireless Routers work, but a majority of them use CAT5 Ethernet ports...where you just plug in the cable to the back of the wireless router box and it will send out a signal. Your 360 will reconize this signal.
 
In order to set up your 360 for wireless play, first you need the wireless adapter. Which costs $100. Plus it's a little flaky. But if you can't get a wire up to your room then this is the way to go.

Once you have both a wireless router and the wireless adapter then you just go to your network settings and you should be able to connect from there.

Also make sure your router supports 802.11 B/G. This way you'll get a strong signal. Enough to play online.
 
It's probably a lot easier and cheaper to use wires. About 30 feet runs $20.
 
If you end up getting a wireless router, I recommend Belkin over Linksys. For some reason I couldn't get Linksys to work for me, while Belkin works fine.

Really? I don't have a problem at all with my Linksys.
 
I have a Linksys, and while I'm not sure about the 360, I don't have any Wii problems with it.
