Here's the deal. I currently have a Gameboy Advance SP that I am pretty happy with. However, with all the new games coming out on the DS, and the fact that the DS has a brighter screen, that could become an option. I do have some old Gameboy games that DO play on the SP but don't on the DS. But, I also have the Super Gameboy adaptor to play Gameboy (original) games on the Super NES console.

I guess the question is, do I update my Gameboy Advance SP to the new version with a brighter screen, or wait until the DS comes out with a game that I'm actually interested in and get that?

trade it in and get a DS. You can still play your SP games on it and you can play all the upcoming DS and SP games. You pretty much get both handhelds in one.

get the ds.there are many good games out right now.such as mario 64 ds,kirby canvas curse, nintendogs, castlevania dawn of sorrow(my favorite castlevania ever..even more than symphony of the night)and soon mario cart!

So dawn of sorrow is released and is on the DS?

"It's every bit as incredible as you could hope for."
"This is the kind of game worth buying a DS for." -PLAY magazine

"Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and the butch babe Samus can all take a back seat, because this is the DS title real gamers have been waiting for."
"A must-have for all action fans, and kicks the ever-loving crap out of any other action/platformer on the DS" -GameSpy

"In many ways, Dawn of Sorrow actually trumps Konami's quitessential 'Metroid-vania' that started it all - Castlevania: Symphony of the NIght" - Electronic Gaming Monthly

Okay, I think THAT is the reason I was waiting for to buy a DS.

As previously stated, I no longer need my GBA to play the old-school GameBoy Metroid II or handful of originals that my GF had. It looks like that IS a reason to get a DS. I think I might be sold.

Not to mention that it's going wifi. Good choice.

Planet Gamecube: "And without spoiling too much, we can promise that Dawn of Sorrows has a deep bonus mode that will remind you of one of the most popular classic Castlevania games."

Uhm, do they mean what I hope they mean?!... eeeee!

Hmm, I could care less about the wifi equipment considering that it's for multi-player gaming rather than 'net connectivity...

Having a killer application is the most important thing for any console (think of xbox without halo, for example). This just happens to be that "killer ap" for the DS IMO.

Of course, it's all about the games. I was just throwing in some more extra features. Nothing wrong with getting more for your money.

If the psp wasnt so expensive I would get that but if I do get a handheld anytime soon I will get the ds.  I probably wont get a handheld though so it doesnt really matter wich one I would get.

There are a lot of games out for the DS that can definitley keep you busy until new games come out. For example, Castlevania and Meteos, and Super Mario 64. Then Mario Kart and Age of Empries will be out :)

Fair enough, but I've seen what a PSP can do with a few mods with its wireless capability.  ::D
the psp aps are a bit boring though... Iknow people willl argue with me.... but IMO the games just aren't there. I played coded arms and ended up selling that on the site as well.
It wasn't a bad game, I just couldn't get used to the controls.... no matter how many times I tweaked the nub.... but it was a cool concept game... and I liked it. The controls were all that I didn't like.

anyway... I'd check out the DS, and if you are interested... I could get some ds stuff for you.

If you like shooters... check out nanostray :) I have restocks of that coming Monday.

Bv :hat

btw.. I voted wait to get a DS... but I'd get it as soon as possible :lol :)

if you like sidescroll beat-em-up style games, you need to check out Star Wars Episode 3 on the DS... it is pretty nice.

*cough* nintendofanboy *cough* :P

Like I said, I've played on a PSP WITH MODS. The wireless capabilities blow the DS away. Of course, if there was a 2D castlevania (like Dawn of Sorrow) coming out for the PSP, heck, even if Final Fantasy VII and/or Symphony of the Night were ported to the PSP, I'd so get one.

But, I digress. Since Dawn of Sorrow IS out on the DS, it might just be on my Christmas list. Ya know, since I don't have jack for spare time 'til then.
