unofficial Eternal Sonata hype thread!!

Some reviews for Eternal Sonata are already out.

EGM 7 out of 10
Official Xbox Magazine 8 out of 10
gamesTM 7 out of 10
Play Magazine 9 out of 10
Hardcore Gamer Magazine 4 out of 5

Play:
Eternal Sonata is the JRPG that the 360 needs, and the story saves it from being cliche, but gamers shouldn't be expecting a reinvention of the genre. [Sept 2007, p.72]

OXM:
If you're predisposed to cuteness, level-grinding, and some outright earnest, sweet-tempered madness, ditch all disbelief and consider Sonata your match made in heaven. [Sept 2007, p.70]

Hardcore Gamer Magazine:
Despite the bubble-eyed anime character designs, the game's script is sharp and subtle in a way that anime usually isn't. [Sept 2007, p.60]

gamesTM:
For all its loveliness and in spite of its adventurous battle system, Chopin’s Dream is ultimately too restrained to be classed as revolutionary. [Sept 2007, p.122]

that aint bad, all theyre are saying is if you dont like the cutesy stuff then you wont like it. And you know what idc about the cutesy stuff! im gettin it!!

Well the thing that I realized last night is that none of the rpgs I have really liked in the past few years ever got a 10. In fact, the only rpg that did was FFXII and I haven't played enough of that to know if it even deserves it. Anyway, the rpgs that I have played were all in the 7-8 range, with I think a 9 for Symphonia somewhere. So now that I see Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata getting scores in those ranges, it makes me think they will probably end up with higher scores for me personally, just as Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Legendia, and Tales of the Abyss did.

i really enjoyed the blue dragon demo and its a must buy for me, i was gonna get it but i got Two Worlds instead so me and my cuz can multi it up

One of my friends got Blue Dragon, so I'm going to play his copy once he's done. Kind of like how I'm playing my friend's copy of Bioshock since he beat it already. :lol

Just a bump for you guys - Eternal Sonata comes out on the 18th! Are you ready?

And another notice to myself, because I need to buy my own 360 before then because Mai will be on that game non-stop. ^.~

Pffft. Am I ready? What do you think? :lol I made this topic! XD!

I have been ready for this game since it was announced.

And I hereby proclaim that not only will I finish it, but I will finish it before Halo 3 comes out on the 25th. Yes, I am claiming that I will be able to beat Eternal Sonata in a week. :D

(Unless of course I get a job between now and then, and then it might take me...two weeks).

For my fellow ES fans, I bring you Endless Nocturne, the official forum for Eternal Sonata.

Oh, she'll do it, too. Maybe twice. She plays the games made by ths team twice in a row, back-to-back. Every single one of them. I am really glad we have more than one TV now or I would just have my DS to keep me company. I'm going to be an Eternal Sonata Widow. :-[

Well I just found out that Eternal Sonata will be on the PS3 as well, although the release date for it is undetermined.

The official Eternal Sonata website has this to say:

Platforms
PLAYSTATION®3
Xbox 360™

Release Date
PLAYSTATION 3
TBD

Xbox 360™
Available Now

Kind of disappointing because it means the Tales games will likely not appear on the 360, but at least this way more people will be able to enjoy ES. And also, the 360 is still doing horrible in Japan. :(

At any rate, I don't have a PS3 so I'm still getting the 360 version. ^_^

But I don't want a George Foreman Grill. :'(

(Then again I said that about the XBOX because it wasn't Nintendo.)

Why doesn't Japan like the 360? :'( :?

IGN gave it an 8.3! Which is considered "impressive" by their rating system. I'm psyched, i loved the demo!

The review is surprisingly positive with only a paragraph at the end desribing its faults (fixed camera and limited customization). Im not too amped about the whole music-theme but this game will be mine sooner or later

Eternal Sonata looks beautiful....Chopin is a favorite Classical artist of mine so this should turn out interesting.... :)

Music to me can make or break a game, especially rpgs. Since not only is it based on Chopin, but Motoi Sakuraba (he does a lot of vg soundtracks, including Tales and Golden Sun to name a few) is also doing the music, I'm pretty sure Eternal Sonata is going to have an awesome soundtrack.

Oh, edited to add: I got my faceplate! :woot It's the Chopin one.

Awesome..I think I'm getting that one too. :)

Ok well I have played for a good hour or so and I am very pleased. It's pretty much what I expected. Great music, fun battle system, and an interesting story. I will post more later but I just wanted to offer this small tidbit for now. :)
