Unofficial 3DS Thread

I told you all the analog stick was awesome! :D

It feels like an analog stick despite not extending out like one. I think if the PSP nub was concave instead of convex, it wouldn't have been so bad.

That's great to hear! I really hope they make some good quality racers that take advantage of the analog stick and the technical capabilities.

And wow I didn't know that Zi! That's pretty cool because that little d-pad got a bit cramped after a while of playing.

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

Its the lack of games out at the moment. All I really bought was Super Street Fighter IV. However I feel that might change once the big titles start coming out.

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

So, you think sales will increase to Nintendo's expected standards when titles such as OoT are released? Maybe, but I still think the price has a lot to do with it, and the fact that some people just bought a DSi, and there will most likely be a 3DSLite, or something of that nature shortly down the road. And of course, there will be more games by that time, like you were saying, so maybe that will increase sales.

though the article does make a good point.... some of my friends were VERY skeptical about the 3D effect of the 3DS until I showed it to them. Its something like sounds like a cheap gimmick that does not work very well until you see it first hand and since that cannot be shown in advertisement its hard to convince people of this

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

Yeah, the 3DS itself is something you really have to experience. Even playing the demo of SSFIV in the stores doesn't really do it justice, IMO. It kind of shows a little bit, but I think for the true experience, playing Face Raiders or the AR games does a better job of showing what the 3D can actually do.

As far as that article, I think the main issue is the price and the perceived lack of quality with the launch games. There's not really something for everyone. SSFIV is an awesome game, but what if you don't like fighters?

I also don't think they really differentiated it enough from the DS iterations. I'm sure a lot of people just assume it's another redesign, rather than a whole new system.

But I agree with Zidart, I think that after E3 when more games are announced, and as more people buy the 3DS (like when Zelda comes out), word will get around and it will start to be more popular.

I feel the 3DS is just like the PSP once was. not many people thought it would ever take off but look at it now.

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

Well you also have to look at the economy. Not many people can afford a $250 system when gas is freaking $4 a gallon! :-\

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

i think they need to go into more detail in their commercials, they have a very poor commercial that barely gets even me interested. they need to take a new approach and go into more detail and show it off in a great way. the commercials they have running right now don't grasp the whole 3D perspective in my opinion.

i mean yeah they have things popping out, they really don't show much even when they have that street-fighter game they don't really show the great details of the game in an eye catching kind of commercial. like i said, they just need to re-think their angle

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

well, thats the thing. You cant show the 3D effect on TV, or in an ad, it's unique to the system. You have to use one to be able to see it.
I think it's a really cool console, i dont think it's worth as much as they're charging for it, and even if it was, i couldnt afford one right now. They need to find a better way to market it, but it seems like it's going to be hard to do, since they cant advertise the way they are used to.

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

I think whats been said about not being able to communicate 3D in a commercial is a big part of the problem. But the price of the system is a big hang up for me to even consider one. $250 is a lot for me at the moment. The economy is pressing in on my money bag. I had to wait for the Dsi XL to come down in price before I got me one. And the only way I had one then is because some money came my way as a gift. I'm sure the price is a problem to a lot of gamers, but when killer games start coming out for the system and that old itch for something new begins to bite.................................. that is when I think sales will pick up. I'm not sure if it will reach Nintendo's expectations until they pull the plug on the Dsi availability. And they had better be sure when they do pull it from the shelf, especially if it is a money maker for them.

i agree that its definitely not worth how much they're charging for it. i mean that is a bit pricey! i got one for a gift, anyway, when i say that they need to advertise better, they are just showing a dragon jumping out of a table. and the fighting game just shows two fighters from the game and one kicks the other. they need to put more action and excitement into the commercials. thats what i would advise them.

do you guys and gals agree?

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

I thought this thread as about whither members can see 3DS 3D effect or not. Very interesting topic, because I cannot see 3DS 3D. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Do you mean, when you look at a 3DS you don't see it? Is the slider on the 3DS at the highest position?

Re: Can you see the 3DS' magic?

You are saying it as if it was so clear. It hurts. :(

Off course I know about the slide. I keep using it to compare between 3D on or off but I only notice little difference and it seems like my impression are different from must players. :(
