Unofficial 3DS Thread

Re: 3DS visuals

Eye strain, vertigo, headaches. One report claimed a child threw up after playing and the mother insisted the kiosk should be taken down asap.

As for Spartan. He told me every employee and customer at the Best Buy has complained about the eye sores of the 3DS.

Re: 3DS visuals

Yeah, there is some eye strain. It all depends on if your eyes can handle it. But you can always turn it off. 3D is not required to play the games. That's how I'll be playing them.

Re: 3DS visuals

It could definitely cause some eye fatigue, dizziness, or headaches. However, people can get that from playing FPS video games until their eyes get used to it. Actually, the same can also be caused by riding in a car.

Once the brain adjusts to certain visual input not matching the environment, those symptoms tend to subside.

Yeah, I feel weird when I get off a treadmill, even. But it seems like I am getting used to it now.

Haha yes I know that feeling...Kinda like you are sinking into the ground. Not fun when you aren't used to it!

Re: 3DS visuals

So I played the 3DS finally at a local Best Buy. My thoughts? Fantastic, but I was trying so hard to hold it to where it was comfortable for me to see it without having to focus every other time. I had to be perfectly still in order to see the 3D. I'm assuming this will be fixed in a later remodel. Reminds me of the days of the transition between the GameBoy to the GameBoy Pocket. Where you could see the image from the side if someone is viewing it at an angle, while as the original GameBoy you could not.

Re: 3DS visuals

I don't think the viewing angle can be fixed. It's not the same as contrast viewing angle on an LCD where images start looking washed out when you change the angle. In order to somewhat see it at other viewing angles, you would have to put the 3DS farther from your face, but because it's a handheld, doing that would mean not being able to see the detail.

If the two images are not focused by your eye, you will lose the effect, regardless of where you look at it from.

This scary teddy bear wants to eat your 3DS. No joke.

Re: 3DS will launch with 18 games in North America for $40 each!

So who got one? I said screw it and ordered it from Amazon. Can't beat $25 off a 3DS game and no tax.

I'll get one when I see a game I really want. I haven't yet.....unless I've missed something really awesome you guys should have told me about lol. :P

Re: 3DS will launch with 18 games in North America for $40 each!

No, no games really yet. I picked up the 3DS but didn't get any games with it.

I just want to make sure I have one when the good games do come out. I imagine the demand will be a lot higher when stuff like Zelda, Mario, and Resident Evil comes out.

But so far I'm really satisfied with my purchase, despite the lack of games. The 3D is really amazing. I have the 3D slider set about midway and have had no problems with headaches or nausea or dizziness, like people have been saying. I played around with the Mii creator and the Face Blaster. There's also a 3D music video that you can get if you update the system when you get it. I had no trouble watching that in 3D, either.

So I ended up getting this. Amazon offered me a free accessory and this was one of the choices. I couldn't pass it up, it's just too weird.
