The Wii/PS3 like the DS/PSP?

No, because this is six years later, and everyone already has one. Hines, you have a point, but discs are cheap to make.

So you should understand where I'm coming from with the PS3, no?

All I see on this site is people trashing the PS3, and laughing at anyone who defends it.

And if you recall, I was the one who posted about stopping the PS3 bashing. :)

The point you make about the PS3 is the point I make about Wii, that's all.

For the record, I think the 360 stomps the Wii but any person who calls themselves a gamer will acknowlegde that there are great games to be played on every console.

No, I'm dead serious. Since DVD players were so new back then, it helped sales if they had it(PS2), and since the Gamecube didn't have it, no one bought the 'cheap DVD player', but instead got the Xbox(DVD player) or the at the time, looked better than the Gamecube PS2(with DVD player). So because of that, Gamecube sales were low, so if you made a game for it, you'd probably lose money since not enough people even could buy it, so they all moved away from it. You can't make this crap up.

And Im dead serious. It sold poorly because Nintendo showed no love to 3rd parties. Not to mention their stance on mature games at the time. Sure it helped the PS2 but if it didn't have DVD playback it still would have sold well due to the franchises it had.

no, but its games are stored on DVD's, so developers can do what they want pretty much, and therefore make better games.

Not necessarily. So the GC might have needed an extra disc or two but you could still do what you wanted on a Cube that you could do on a PS2. It was even more powerful than the PS2. Maybe some developers might have not liked it but it was still possible to do as much or more on a Cube.

yeah, but you cant deny that it led to some of the third parties not wanting to work on it.

I never denied it. Im sure there were a few, but not because you could do more with DVD but because it was probably more convenient.

also, the low fanbase of the cube (well, lower than others) made developers want to work on other consoles, the ps2 and xbox, because they would make more money that way

Yeah, lots of developers lost money making games for the Gamecube. From poor sales.

well all the consoles are doing ok at the time (well although the sales of the ps3 are not really good). but my personal opinion is that some fanboys (im not talking about any of you) say that the wii doesn't have anything else than metroid, mario and smash.

many third party companies are realizing the power of the wii. wii games are more easy to develop and of course cheap, and there is a big list of third party games coming for the wii. has anyone noticed that?

for the ps3 well there many good games coming. but the problem is some are for next year (final fantasy XIII and killzone). and i don't really care of the media features because that's why i have a pc.

the XBOX well i don't really like it is a good console and has really good games but im not interested on them.

well i wouldn't sell my wii, not yet and not after mario kart. you know nintendo they always give lots of suprises at the last moment.

yeah people said the reason of the gamecube not being succesful was the lack of third party support. being a console for kids i don't think so, it doesn't have to be a M game to be good anyway

Surprisingly, in the U.S., the PS3 is only behind the Wii by 1 million units sold. It's moving up real fast.

Nobody said the games had to be rated 'M' to be good. It's just that the core age of gamers is in the upper 20's. They'd rather play mature games.

The Gamecube didn't suck, it's sales did because it didn't have a DVD player.
:lol Right keep thinking that...I ways thinking more along the lines of 5 worthwhile games every year, no online whatsoever, and a controller design that made some genres nearly unplayable. Yes, the lack of a DVD player was the least of the problems for Nintendo's purple lunch pail.

As for that comparison, uhh...no. There are some big differences between the handheld market and console market. The reason the PSP hasn't beaten the DS is because Sony wanted to take console gaming to handhelds, and so they ended up with a lot of stripped down ports, with bad controls. I really don't think they'll be having that problem with the PS3...

Plus, the PS3 is getting a ton of promising games over the next year and a half, and the Wii...I count 7 or 8.

Give the Wii a little more love than that Hines. There's Brawl, Metroid, SMG, Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, No More Heroes, Wii Fit (hey, I don't like it, but it seems like a good game for some people...), and that's 7...
