The Mega-Mini Review:
This game scares the living poop out of me.
It's a blend of the original "ALIEN" Movie, John Carpenter's THE THING, and with a hint of Resident Evil 4 gameplay.
Making this a sure-fire candidate for Survival Horror Game of 2008 by FAR.
The weaponry is very pleasing: the plasma cutter, flamethrower, mine launcher, and rifle pack a punch.
There is a store in the game and a work bench. The store provides items and the work bench is for upgrading weapons and armor.
Alot of hidden rooms on the ship "Ishimaru", but be warn what you bargain for, each room can be a trap or helpful....
This game is no walk in the park, I have had a bit of a challenge on normal mode so far. I stopped at Chapter 3, the first boss was a bit of a doozy.
This armor suit you wear has a ton of sweet features! "kinesis" mode (You can lift objects with your left arm) and "Slow Down Shot" (this is very helpful if the enemy is moving TOO fast or a door won't stay open from a malfunction.
Puzzles to slove can range from easy to tricky of course.
Monster designs? Astounding and freakishly delightful!
LOCK DOWN is the worst scenario I've faced so far, you have to kill all the enemies in the room in order to get out alive.
Atmosphere and graphics? DAAAAARK and SCARY AS HELL. Remember, in space...nobody can hear you scream....Graphical details and visuals are breath-taking by far, it's odd, first we had BioShock last year, now this year it's Dead Space. Rolling out great titles every year it seems.
Should you pick it up? Most def! That's if you can survive this horrific sci-fi nightmare.. :
