So, is anyone else looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy?

I'm not that big on platformers, but Galaxy looks awesome from what I've seen so far in trailers.

And according to the latest issue of Game Informer, there's even a co-op mode in Galaxy!

Co-op is done with an interesting twist in Galaxy. A second player can grab an extra Wii remote and assist Mario by taking control of the floating star pointer that accompanies Mario. This accomplice will be able to do a variety of things, such as hold down enemies or stun them (making it easier for Mario to finish them off), collecting floating star gems, and even destroy certain obstacles such as boulders.

i am looking foward for this game :). it looks like a good platformer and the physics look even more awesome (well feel) the story well is a mario game it doesn't need it (except the sad story of super paper mario), and overall it looks like a good long (and sometimes hard) game
 
In Galaxy the stages are separated by galaxies, and each galaxy has its own theme. That means the level variety should be pretty good.
 
is a mario game :lol is there any doubt of variety? i can't think of a mario game that has repetitive stages (well Dr mario)
 
read the article in nintendo power about mario galaxy, and i have to say that it looks like a must-have for every wii owner (regardless of age)
 
I've been excited about this game for a while. It looks like a lot of fun. It'll probably be really short though in all likelihood, unless they have enough galaxies and variations like Mario 64. I'm definitely going to pick this up though.
 
I'm hoping they will set up a Super Mario Galaxy channel similar to the one they had for Metroid Prime 3. I thought was a great way to advertise to Wii owners.

we don't know what nintendo is thinking right now :o (example number 1 metroid prime 3 channel) who knows maybe a demo channel
 
Famitsu gives Super Mario Galaxy 38/40

The first Japanese reviews of Super Mario Galaxy are trickling in in advance of the game's Nov. 1 Japanese release, and so far they're looking pretty good. Venerable game rag Famitsu's four reviewers gave the game two nines and two tens for a total score of 38/40. This puts the game just under Super Mario 64's 39/40 and just above Super Mario Sunshine's 37/40 from the magazine. Overall, the score puts it behind just 22 games in the magazine's history.

A partial review translation by 1UP reveals nothing but praise for the new Mario game, calling it "a game anyone can really play" and urging that "every game fan should play this game." Of course it's hard to imagine Famitsu giving the high-profile game a bad review -- the magazine has been accused of doling out scores based mainly on hype and sales expectations. Despite this, there's a part of us that just wants to believe that the high praise is based on genuine enjoyment and not marketing dollars. We'll find out for ourselves when the game reaches our shores Nov. 12.

woow well it means the game does live up to the hype...well good thing nintendo didn't mess up with this one

I'm really excited for this now. 38/40 is great! I wonder why it isn't at 40/40? :-\

Lack of difficulty, perhaps? Maybe some goals are too simplistic and don't really make you explore around for it? It might not be a 'flaw', per se, but it can certainly lower the score. Not like 38 is remotely bad.

does it need to be? 38/40 is still a 95 so I see no problem with that. And games can't be perfect

EDIT: I meant can't
