I'm tha greatest!
Okay, so I'm relatively new hear, but thought this would be an intriguing topic to talk on.

What videogame has the best storyline ever?

My personal choice is Halo.

and no games that came from movies first.

yeah, go ahead, make me realize how incompetent i am not to have thought of Kingdom Hearts....

ima go beat up a hobo now.

I feel for you. You've missed out on a lot of great video game stories, apparently.

My personal choice is Kotor. It had deep characters, an intriguing storyline, a twist that will make your jaw drop, and some well played out themes about the corruption power causes.

Runner up would have to be Bioshock. The game's atmosphere worked great, the voice acting is phenomenal, the basic plot is intriguing, and the story has a lot of depth.

Other honorable mentions would be Half Life, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, the Final Fantasy series (all the ones I've played have had very well done storylines), and Ocarina of Time.

Actually, now that i've thought about it, I think Dynasty Warriors are pretty good.

ANd Capcom vs Marvel is better than i realized.

my life ( not a game ) it has..........um.............um.....JESUS and ME and maple story WoW rune scape and some personal stuff

Are u sick or sumptin? *Checks his temperature* I don't believe Dynasty Warriors has a story.

Ill sort by genre.
Fighter: Dead or Alive
Shooter: Bioshock
RPG: KOTOR or Final Fantasy VIII
Action/Adventure: God of War

Halo as the best story? You do realize it's about half a dozen sci-fi stories mashed together in a way that was only pulled off in the first game, right?

Storywise, I'd have to put Majora's Mask up there. I'll go get my...'summary' of it.

tales of symphonia or any other namco RPG...i love big plot twists (in second place final fantasy and resident evil umbrella chronicles IMO)

LEt me clariy something... I really don't know anything... Halo just was in my head when I started this... Never really liked the game, but the storyline is so simple, yet effective that it impressed me.

Again, I reinterate, i am not a part of the gaming culture really, but i like hanging out on these forums, and talking when something catches my eye.

Hahaha, don't worry about it, everyone's a Halo hater here. Just ask Spartanevolved, he's been holding the front line on that battle by himself for well over 3 years. :lol

The story is actually fairly well received, and I hear the books are worth a read. I'm nerdy enough to play videogames, and to read books, but reading a book about a videogame... that's a bridge too far, even for me.

Tales of the Abyss, for sure.

But most rpgs in general are pretty good for the story.

For fighting games, Dead or Alive has a really interesting storyline going on. I can't wait for DOA5 to see what happens with everyone! :lol

For shooters, I haven't played a great many, but I liked Halo's. Maybe it's not the best, but I can tell that they did try to make it more than just a sci-fi shooter.

Action would probably be God of War.

I believe it has the best story I've seen too.

P.S. Read the books. ;)

The Halo story is a great one; I think Bungie just didn't present it well by splitting it into books and the games. If you don't read the books you don't get the full story, and not everyone is going to read the books.

But then again, if they tried to fit everything in the books into the game, it would probably not be as good as a game.

It's like when they try to make books into movies, I guess. Stuff gets left out.
