:D :D :D :D :D *DANCES*

In the footage, which appeared to be an in-engine recording of gameplay from one or both of the current HD consoles, a male character resembling James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2 awoke from a public bench and began wandering the foggy, deserted streets of a suburban neighborhood.

Dude...Silent Hill is like...the greatest!!

I wouldn't go that far. It's a good game series though. I think 3 & 4 kind of brought the series down from greatness.

But I have to agree, it's nice to see the franchise still standing and providing a fun experience. I have to get back to these games one day.

Re: A NEW SILENT HILL at E3 10'!! AHHHHHH!!

My comment was tongue in cheek ;) It is a really good series but certain flaws in each game kept them from greatness. I still think 1 is the best with 2 following right behind.

Funny you should mention 4..

Confirmed for 360, PS3, and PC.

According to 1UP, the next Silent Hill game is being developed by Czech studio Vatra Games, the third studio to take the series' development reins since 2004's Silent Hill 4: The Room. In the likely event that you've never heard of Vatra, the studio describes itself as "built from both industry veterans and new talent," lead by Matthew Seymour, formerly of Take-Two Interactive and Microsoft Game Studios

Another report from Joystiq implies that the game may be based on Silent Hill 2 and speculates that another re-imagining of a previous game—a la Silent Hill: Shattered Memories—could be in the works.

With Silent Hill vet Akira Yamaoka moving on to greener pastures at Grasshopper Manufacture and an all-new developer on the job, we'll be interested to see what Konami has to show at E3 this year.

What am I reading!? O.o another change in the gameplay??

Re: A NEW SILENT HILL at E3 10'!! AHHHHHH!!

That would be awesome if it was in first person viewpoint as long as the core gameplay doesn't change.

Re: A NEW SILENT HILL at E3 10'!! AHHHHHH!!

Ive never played a Silent Hill game i'm thinking i should start but i don't know which game i should start at.

I checked out 1 but the graphics are just...it seemed like being attacked by block monsters which kinda brought the scare factor for me any way to zero.

I'm thinking 3.

Re: A NEW SILENT HILL at E3 10'!! AHHHHHH!!

Silent Hill may have dated graphics, but it has one the best stories out of any horror game. Very well worth a playthrough!

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/26/comic-crossover-planned-for-next-silent-hill/

New details emerge...blending elements with one of the comic series, this Silent Hill has a time line that starts in 1867A.D.

Speaking to FEARnet, Silent Hill 8 writer Tom Waltz revealed that he is also working on a comic book crossover project entitled Silent Hill: Past Life. According to Waltz, the comic is set in 1867 and tells the story of "an outlaw and a really bad guy" named Jebediah Foster who "meets this godly widow who changes his ways." Before long the couple moves to Silent Hill to escape the wildness of the Wild West. As typically happens in the town, Jebediah soon finds himself dealing with "the ghosts of his past" (probably not in a tear-jerking, Dr. Phil kind of way, we're guessing).

Waltz added that the comic will tie into Silent Hill 8, as the game will actually feature a character from the comic. As the game is set in modern times, while the comic is set in 1867, Waltz hopes that fans will wonder "how the hell" the disparate time periods will tie together. For what it's worth, we do know that Silent Hill 8 also stars a criminal, an escaped convict named Murphy Pendlton. Waltz wouldn't elaborate any further, though he did note that reading the comic will help players gain a better understanding the game.

I can't help but think of Hell Frozen Rain (one of the Silent Hill Shattered Memories songs) when I see the title and rain. Still not fond of the main character's name though. >:(
