RPG Discussion Thread

Yep, what I hate is when you fight a super hard boss and they don't drop any cool or rare items. I like to be rewarded for my hard work dang it!

Another thing that made "FF1" annoying, was there were no save zones in dungeons and caves that I remember.

The gay guy in your party from Enchanted Arms....I can't remember anything else about that game...other than how horrible of a stereotype they made him.

I thought I'd post this,because I find it interesting.

I think "RPG'S" are so popular for the following reasons:

1.You Get To Play God in a way.
2You get to control people(and who doesn't like being in control? :lol),Dress them, fight with them,go shopping for various items, etc.
3.By way of multiple choice in some games,it allows you to sculpt a character's conduct and beliefs to ones that you possess.
4.The most important component I believe,is of course "Fantasy".If humans didn't have the ability to fantasize,I believe reality would be too much of a drag. You can't tell me that anyone hasn't put on the head phones, listen to your favorite tunes and not fantasized about singing your favorite jam in front of thousands,or perhaps being the victor of the Boxing or UFC,title fight,or being the one to hit the "Home Run" in the bottom of the 9th to secure the "Pennant".

I'm interested in your opinion.

There's lots of reasons why I love RPG's... Good, engaging stories, excellent soundtracks, length, lots of traveling and seeing different atmospheres, tons of monsters to fight, lots of boss fights, they require more mental strategy than button mashing, replayability, most RPG's have a good amount of secrets and side quests, they are usually more memorable than other games {IMO}, and overall I just think they are fun to play.

I'm inclined to say how creative they let you be.Other reasons I mentioned in a post earlier. This is an interesting topic,so much choice. :lol

man its been a while since my posts in this thread

well man...

i like rpgs or the playability

Breath of Fire 3's my favorite. :D

I concur!!

That game was awesome. You gotta love "Garr"!I liked everything about it.I had a copy of the sequel to "BOF:III",- "BOF:IV" a long time ago.but never got that far into it.This game is a perfect example of just how good rpg's can be,without requiring big graphics.

I agree! The Disgaea series is another prime example of that. :)

I remember the first time I played it,I sold the "Flower Jewel".I think that's what it was called, only to find out later that it was for a Faerie who would become my master.I started a whole new game after that huge faux pas! :lol

Good Morning,Good Afternoon,Good Evening,Wherever you live,

What RPG(Video Game RPG)Do you believe set the precedent for overall quality, and innovative features in an "RPG"?

Peace,

That's a tough one. I am gonna have to go with FFX or Tales of Symphonia. They are the only 2 RPG's that have truly blown me away in the last 10 years.

Some of my choice weighs upon the developer and some of it weighs on the battle system...im a big fan of atlus games..so whenever they drop a new game im all over it lol and the battle system to me shows me how much fun i will have battling if i dont like the battle system it takes away from my joy lol..

Hi Guys!

The worst "RPG" I ever played in my opinion, would have to be "Grandia III".It was far too short a game for me.

God Bless,
Kaz
