Because there were no AC adapter plugs coming out of the system, it seems reasonable to assume that Sony had all the demos running through battery power. We were at the trial event when it started and left an hour later; the battery meter in the menu screen remained at three notches throughout. You can read into that however you like.

We're not sure if you'll want to actually play PSP with the sound off, though, as we found the music to be one of the best parts of the experience.

We suspected as much at E3, but in practice, the PSP feels comfortable in the hand, with all the buttons, and the analogue thumb pad, falling right into place. We actually found the analogue thumb pad to be perfectly situated for making our pointer fingers fall onto the shoulder buttons.

So far, it's looking pretty good. I can't wait to hear how much it's going to be. I don't plan on getting one at launch but I'll probably pick a PSP up at some point.

not too bad:

this sort-of worries me... I wonder if they had a mock up there.

we'll have to see how it does. I am still very leary of a sony handheld.

BTW... They officially said it was $300, right?

The PSP is going to be $150.

One of my co-workers told me that the Sony rep who visits our store said that Sony would try to match Nintendo's DS price for the PSP. If Sony follows up on that, that means the PSP would also launch at $150, which isn't bad at all considering all the features the PSP has. I still wouldn't get it at launch, since the only game I really want is Tales of Eternia. But if the PSP did start at $150 and I waited until after another price drop when there were more games out, it would probably be worthwhile.

The DS is 6-10 hours battery life, which isn't quite the 10-15 the SP could do, but still pretty good IMO. So if the PSP can match that for gameplay, it will be good.

6-10 for the DS... I thought it was 9-12? grrr.. :lol
I cannot keep this straight.

As for the PSP matching Nintendo's $150... I would have to see it to believe that as well.  I am not trying to be negative all the time... but supplier pricing is showing $300 now MSRP.

If Sony can match that... they are going to be taking some serious hits to their wallet.

Well to tell you the truth, I'm willing to bet that you have more inside info than the Sony rep, since you're actually a vendor. I asked our rep if she ever sees the Sony "suits" (aka bigwigs) and she told me "Maybe once or twice a year." If your supplier is saying $300, that's probably more reliable than the Sony rep saying that Sony would have to match Nintendo.
