It would not surprise me. Clearing out inventory is one of Sony's favorite past times.
 
I've been GASsing (GAS = gear acquisition syndrome) after a PS3 slim since Sony released the design. Now seems about the right time!

So the 7200 Scorpio Black is still serving you well? How much of a speed difference have you noticed over the stock drive?
