Pokemon Black/White Thread

Purchase Pokemon Black or White before April 10th and get the new legendary!

You probably won't win every single battle in Pokémon Black and White, but that doesn't mean you can't always lay claim to victory. Anyone who grabs one of the twin titles before April 10 will be able to obtain a "Liberty Pass" using the game's Wi-Fi connect mode -- a special item that allows the player to catch the newest legendary monster Victini, who, in some circles, is known as "the victory Pokémon."

Victini's got access to a range of Fire and Psychic abilities, including one that lets you boost the accuracy of all your team's Pokémon in a particular fight -- making it indispensable for the series' new Triple Battle systems. PLUS: it's adorable.

It is kind of cute. Psychic/fire is a combination I don't think they've tried yet, either. :lol

Oh I'll definitely get Victini. I'm gonna pre-order one of them this week, I can't decide which though lol. Still, I can't wait till March 6!!!!!!

very clever on part of Nintendo. i can see their strategy.... sell as many DS and DSi's as they can before they release 3DS

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

Wow how is this topic not bumped yet? I beat the Elite Four yesterday. 32 hours in a week. It was awesome, Snivy and its evolutions are my new favorite Pokemon.

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

That reminds me I need to download the free Pokemon. I've been playing Chrono Trigger and SoulSilver so I completely forgot to play it.

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

I have all 8 gym badges but I'm not strong enough to take on the Elite Four yet. I'm working on leveling right now, and trying to decide if I should use a different water Pokemon (I was using Seismatoad).

Although, it just occurred to me that I just need to find the Ice Beam TM somewhere. I'm also looking for the Earthquake TM. Any idea where they are at? :lol

I like Serperior, Krookodile, and Darmanitan so far.

You get both TM's after the Elite Four I think. As for Seismitoad, that's about as good as you'll find. That or Carracosta. But with Krookodile and Serperior, you should be covered even without a water. Just make sure you have a strong fighting because the finally boss has a Dark/Dragon that won't go down to anything but fighting. He one-hit KO'd my entire team besides my Conkeldurr my first time through.

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

Hm, I think I may try to rely on Darmanitan's fighting moves for that. I'm not a huge fan of the fighting Pokemon. But Darmanitan has insane attack stats and I actually defeated the entire dragon gym just using Fire Punch and Fire Bite. :lol Dragons aren't even weak to fire, but that's how strong Darmanitan is. And she (mine is a female) knows two fighting moves as well. So hopefully that will be enough.

I'm also leveling up a dragon type Pokemon, though. Haxorus? :lol Dragon/dark should still be weak to dragon.

The only problem is, the final boss's dark/dragon knows surf and has a really high special attack. It one-hit KO'd my level 50 Chandelure lol. It's fast too. It took out my Zekrom before I could use the type advantage. Lol it's almost unfair that he has the thing, it's so much better than everything you've faced to that point.

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

Wow, that's crazy. I have no one to trade a Gurrdurr to and make it evolve, though. :( My DSlite doesn't support my wifi settings, and none of my friends have it.

I guess I could try to level up a Sawk. I'm guessing the Pokemon doesn't know any psychic or flying moves to take out a fighter?

Unrelated, but can Zoroark learn Crunch through breeding? I don't see it listed as an egg move, but why the heck would a dark Pokemon not be able to learn one of the best dark type moves?

Also, which dragon ends up being better overall? Hydreigon or Haxorus? It looks like Hydreigon has better potential stats, but being dark/dragon gives it more weaknesses than a straight up dragon like Haxorus.

From what I remember (I fought it a lot so I should know this by now :lol), his Hydreigon's moveset is dragon pulse, fire blast, focus blast, and surf. That makes it hard to counter with ice or dragon, so you have to go with fighting or bug if you want a type advantage. You could also just over level a bit and you would probably be fine too. Once you can strike first it's probably a lot easier.

It can't apparently.
(oh and meet your new best friend ;) : http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Zoroark_%28Pok%C3%A9mon%29 )

As for Hydreigon vs Haxorus, I want to say Hydreigon just because its base stats are so much better. Plus, the two extra weaknesses aren't really common.

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

I've trained my Traxus so far though. I think I'm just gonna keep going with that. Deino is pretty high level when you can catch it - I'd definitely want to raise it from an egg and that would take forever, even with the Lucky Egg and EXP Shares.

On the other hand, Pokemon you raise tend to be better than AI Pokemon, so that may be a good option. ^_^

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

i own black edition and its addicting. my Animal Crossing time has suffered though

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

I beat the E4 and Ghetsis.

I defeated his Hydreigon by cheating, sort of. I switched Raikou into my party (had gotten him by using the Relocater). Raikou's Ability is Pressure, which makes Pokemon use more PP when they make a move. Hydreigon's moves, except for Surf, are all 5 PP, so it ran out of moves pretty fast. When it got down to just Surf, I stuck my Serperior in there and waited it out. Eventually when it ran out of Surf, I was gonna put in my Darmanitan and finish it with a Fighting move, but Hydreigon was low on HP so when it struggled, it knocked itself out. :lol

BTW, tried to post that under spoiler and it said I couldn't. Glitch?

Lol that's too funny, that must have taken a million hyper potions. But hey, it worked! I've lost the will to play since I beat Ghetsis, I'll probably go back and beat the Elite Four the second time around at some point though.

Re: Pokemon Black and Pokemon White . Dated March 6th, 2011 in North America!

Be careful! The levels ramp up insanely after you beat Ghetsis. Going through the parts of the region you couldn't before, the wild Pokemon are in the 60s, and trainers you fight have level 65 and above Pokemon. If you go to Undella Bay, the Pokemon champion Cynthia from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum is in one of the houses. I still haven't beaten her yet and my highest Pokemon is at 66 now.

It does make it easy to level, though.
