Bluevoodu

Site Founder
Hellooooo Guys and Gals. I know it's been out there before, but I have sold the site to a member names "John." He is going to be running the forums with his vision. So please welcome John! From here on out, John will be running the show. :)

Just a heads up, I Will still be around here and there createing topics. :)

It's been a great run since 2001. Thank you to all the members that have stuck around even though this place has been slow. We've had a lot of great times around here over the years :) Let's keep them rolling.

Hello everyone!

We've had some lengthy communication up to this point, and I'm super excited about starting a new chapter for the forum and community! Even though the ownership of the site is changing, the vision of the site will not change. I sincerely mean that.

To tell everyone more about me, I have enjoyed video games since I was a kid. I grew up on the classic NES and went through the various generations of consoles over the years, and eventually switched from console games to computer games when Everquest came out. My favorite computer game is Age of Empires 2 and my favorite console game is Dr. Mario.

It's important to make sure everyone knows that there will never be any charge or any kind of subscription to use the site. Every function and feature and use of the site will always be 100% free for the community. I cannot stress that enough. I've seen communities change hands and the new owners start charging the users, and that will not happen here and I want to squash that thought before it ever comes up.

So what will change?

Well, I've already moved the site onto a new dedicated server, so the pages should be loading super fast!

The next change will be the biggest and most significant, which is I plan on upgrading the forum software, which will provide many more functions and features. Once that's in place, I will continue to add functions to the site.

My personal focus is going to be improving and upgrading the forum website, not the vision or the community. I hope there is a distinct difference that everyone can understand.

If anyone has any questions for me, please post up and I'll answer them as I read them.

Thanks for having me here!

Yes, the site is loading quickly. Hopefully the forum upgrade goes smoothly. I know those have been a pain in the past!

Yes they have been, but I'm happy the site loads faster. Thanks for that and Welcome John!

The next step is for you to join us in some Left 4 Dead, TF2, or CounterStrike. :)

Hi, John! I hope eGA can continue on for a long time. You've got a great community here and I know you'll do well as the new owner. ;)

Age of Empires 2, eh? One of the best games ever, and almost certainly the best RTS of all time.
They're re-releasing it on Steam in a couple of weeks, actually, in "HD" with better multiplayer and all. It'd be cool if we could get some eGA action going once that comes out and it's easier for people to play it now on a modern system.

Will miss BV as owner, but as long as he is still around I guess it'll be ok. Welcome, John, and glad u are trying to improve the site while maintaining it's original vision. We have lots of members that have been here for years and years and it is sad seeing things be so slow the last couple years. Hopefully we can get the old members to be more involved while attracting more new members too. One big happy family :)

Is there a timeline for these changes? Or is it just something gradual over time? I guess I was expecting a new look right away and it hasn't happened. Just curious.

I too would like to know approximately when changes are planned, and how noticeable those changes will be. Unlike many forums, this one doesn't appear to be plagued with spam.

^ :lol

Maybe I'm wrong, (highly doubt it) but I'm like 93% sure you're a bot of some kind so I find that hilariously ironic. :P
Feel free to prove me wrong, though. c:
