Halo 2's multiplayer experience is unparalleled. You just don't like it cause it's not made by Nintendo.

I'm wondering if I should get a Wii on release date or not. At first it was a definite no, that I'd get it later. Now, with Twighlight Princess being a release title, I might change my mind. Is anyone getting theirs on release?

Probably not. Well, it depends on when the date is.

Those who found Halo to be revolutionary likely had their had up their butt for years, or were simply looking away from the PC market as a whole. I understand you didn't reference Halo directly, but the "reputation" of Bungie would indicate as such.

Make it clear for me, sans X Box Live play and a new "campaign", what did Halo 2 offer over the original?

And excuse me, your statements for Halo 3 made it appear as if they were based on actual content and not feelings left over from previous titles.

Ya I know, you were probably one of those people who were completely underwhelmed by a game like Goldeneye on the 64 because you had been playing Quake on your PC years before.

And no, I did not mention Halo on purpose, because I did not enjoy Halo. It was a solid FPS that really failed to wow me on any level. Of course, I only did play the first few levels, but still, I found MOH to be of a subject matter I enjoyed much more.

The reason why I found Halo 2 to be an absolutely amazing game was for several reasons. The first, and most important, is something you simply glazed over in your post: Xbox Live. While I could dive into the subtle nuances and fine tweaking of Halo 2's online play, it would still not adequately express the sheer jubilation I felt playing that game online. Halo 2 was a turning point for me in my gaming tastes, as it showed me how fun games really could be. The combination of solid FPS control, balanced melee weapons, and a quickmatch system that allowed me to play with other Xbox Live users my skill level just made for a perfect gaming experience. I have since played many rounds of Counterstrike and Farcry on PC just trying to get that same feeling that I got playing Halo 2, but they just can't do it. Teamwork was imperative, instinct was important, different weapon combinations went better with different styles of playing... it all added up to a plethora of great gaming experiences. You just don't get that kind of sensation searching through random PC servers in other games.

Aside from all that, Halo has always been an incredible FPS experience, perfectly combining artificial intelligence, vehicles, and balanced gameplay mechanics. They have a reputation of having solid game design. Halo is a best selling franchise for several reasons, and if you cannot see any of them then you must have your head lodged well within the dark crevasses of your body. :lol

Nah, I just own a PC and I've been having the same experience you have now for years.
actually.. that is true... back in '98 I was playing Delta Force and people were using Roger Wilco for voice chat (which set off a huge move in the end of 98 for pc voice chat). After Delta force's extreme success with Roger Wilco (and then other games started getting patched to use it).... then games such as F22 Lightening 3 started getting the voice chat built into it. I doubt Roger Wilco started with Delta Force, but it was one of the games that set it off. I'm sure there had to be more games in the past that attempted voice chat.

IMO... Counter Strike is the game that really thrusted voice chat into games even more.

Halo was pretty good in it's own right... but as an FPS on the PC... it was a little better than mediocre at best. On a console it was tops basically. This doesn't take anything away from the game though. it was still a decent game... I just like sooo many other FPS games before that.

And Stealth.. you are right... other PC games overshadowed Goldeneye... BUT in many respects.... Goldeneye DID overshadow pc games. The play mechanisms.... (the graphics weren't too bad for the time), the single player was TOP NOTCH... you can't beat Goldeneye single player... it still it one of the tops today (though a bit worn from age). Goldeneye multiplayer was just as good. The thing about Goldeneye... it was just a solid game all around that it could compete with ANY game out there. Quake was a pretty good game, but Goldeneye IMO was better. Quake 2.... that's one of my favorite FPS games of all time... and probably one of the best made. I am an FPS fan at heart.... I'd hate to admit it... but I probably own more FPS games than any other style game out there. I'm an FPS sucka :lol and yes, I do own Halo PC.... just never got into it that much.... it has performance issues... :-\

Bv :hat
