Official Super Smash Bros. Brawl Topic

All right, we have a potential leak on our hands.

Here's the story. Someone released a "leaked" complete character list, in the proper order... and someone made a mockup image of what the character select screen would look like in that order.

Then later a "leaked" screenshot of the official game's character select screen was released somewhere on the Internet, having the same order as the previously posted list minus the hidden characters.

The reasoning of believing this leak consists of the following (I didn't write this, it's from the GameFAQs boards):

FACT ONE: The mockup roster was posted a day before the real starting roster was posted.
FACT TWO: The mockup roster contains the non-hidden characters in the EXACT SAME ORDER AS THE REAL STARTING ROSTER.
FACT THREE: These two images came from entirely different sources.
FACT FOUR: The mockup roster's method of adding secret characters PERFECTLY GROUPS THE CHARACTERS BY SERIES

So what do you think? An elaborate false setup or the real deal?

This'll be some fun few days ahead of us.

EDIT: There is also some new news. According to GameStop employees, GameStop will be hosting a Super Smash Bros: Brawl tournament on the 8th, at 9pm. It's a tiered tournament, where winners will move on to play in bigger tournaments (No idea as to how many), leading up to a final tournament at the San Jose, California GameStop.

Pray you do good at the 8th tournament, then practice like crazy. xD

That is the confirmed starting roster from a lucky Japanese gamer who is either good at faking or did get the disc.

Olimar is named Orima in Japan. Lucas is called Ryuka in Japan. Why are they not properly named while Koopa, AKA Bowser is!?

I honestly don't know about any of the others because I'm not keeping up with this anymore (busy day today) but I will say one thing...

FAKE. R.O.B. is the bomb detonator of the Subspace Army, yet now he's a character? Basic flaw.

R.O.B. is indeed an enemy in the Subspace Emissary. But that doesn't mean he can't be unlocked as a playable character, as well. Everybody's been assuming "since he's an enemy in the Emissary, he can't be a character"... when such a rule never exists. For example, Kirby: Canvas Curse (I'm a kirby freak, gotta be kirby references) lets you control Waddle Dee and King Dedede once unlocked, both of which are enemies in-game. Don't get me wrong. I don't want him in Brawl. I'd hate to see him in. I'm just saying it's not a debunked rumor just yet. Another thing people have said is that all characters are unlocked through the Emissary. Sakurai never said that; if anything, iirc he said "most" characters are. Even so, couldn't they have a special requirement for ROB, such as "defeat 1000 ROBs to unlock" or something? He's not a single character, either; it would not be contradictory to see a ROB defeat a ROB in the Emissary, because there's a legion of ROBs in this game.

Just saying.

what's up with kirby'sdesign, isn't he the most lazy built character ever?

although, he is one of my favorite characters ever.

Olimar and Lucas are Olimar and Lucas' Japanese and English names. They aren't named differently.

The Phoenix Wright stuff is kinda dead now...and it wasn't even that good of a game.

anyway i do hope that marth is in this game.. i can't shake up the feeling that he is not gonna be here >_<...
