Some highlights:

Inspired by the early success of the Wii, the companies that create and distribute games are beginning to shift resources and personnel toward building more Wii games, in some cases at the expense of the competing systems: the PlayStation 3 from Sony and Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

“We had one meeting two weeks ago with a publisher that was asking for Wii games,” said Mr. Goldman, who declined to identify the video game publisher that he met. “Three or four months ago, they didn’t want to hear Word 1 about the Wii.”

“We’re seeing a big shift at E3,” said John Davison, editorial director of 1UP Network, a network of video game Web sites and magazines, “and we’ll see more later this year.” He said he was seeing some game publishers putting less emphasis on the PlayStation 3. “But they’re not going to talk about that,” he added.

Some lowlights:

He said that the budget for a Wii game ranges from $1.5 million to $4 million, compared with the $10 million to $12 million the company spends on a PS3 or Xbox 360 game.

Sony counters that, to some extent, Wii developers, publishers and game players will get what they pay for: games with less-complex graphics.

Graphics don't make the game, a low budget, sure, but that's bad how? Last I checked, a lot of PS3 games sucked, and a lot of Wii games sucked less than those.

Again, graphics won't be the only thing that will end up downgraded...

I don't think they are lowlights either. I just figured that if I only posted the positive stuff that someone would have to say, "Well yeah but..." and then bring up stuff like that so I posted them in order to head them off. :lol

At the same time though, if developers are only using the minimum budget, that will eventually reflect in the games. I mean given yes it's possible to develop a Wii game with a 4 mill budget, but that doesn't mean that every game should cap at that. There should be some companies that go above that.

not necessarily, if they only need so much for the game, they can use all the other money they have (you know they have it) to improve the game

They both have games out now that are good! Come on now. :lol

IMO. Wii has Twilight Princess, RE4, and Super Paper Mario.

PS3 has Resistance, Motorstorm, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

And depending on tastes there's probably others as well.

So I'm wondering...since everyone's thing is that the PS3 won't have good games till 2008...which is less than 5 months away...what are you gonna say when that happens? I don't know bout you guys, but I can keep living until 2008 rolls around. :lol

They are still in their first year, though. Most systems don't hit their stride until at least the second year they are out. The PS3 and Wii have a lot of time for further growth.

They're not impatient, they just keep comparing to the 360, which has been out a year, and think there's logic in that.
