Microsoft Lawyer thinks Master Chief in Unreal is a great tribute

You have to take in mind that there are laws that protect user created material which joystiq didn't really include in their article unlike the article from Kotaku.

After transplanting Master Chief from his warm, green home on the Xbox 360 to the PlayStation 3, it was hard to imagine a greater iconoclastic modder offense...but one may have just happened. The newest entrant to the UTIII unlicensed mods club is this Samus Aran skin. Play Metroid, kinda, on your PS3!

As Microsoft explained before, there's nothing illegal about creating or downloading such mods. But that doesn't mean Epic will pay you $1,000,000 for one. Their Make Something Unreal Contest bans the use of "third party intellectual property, including, but not limited to software, images, characters, logos, names and trademarks." Still, some pranks are so good, they're worth the free work.

Besides the disturbing proportions(and the animation glitch of the foot in the ground), it is pretty sweet.
 
I actually have this model for PC, as well as all the Gears of War guys and everyone from Crysis. The creator of the mod is absolutely enraged that people took the early Master Chief model you've posted a screenshot of and cooked it for PS3 against his will. He has notifications up all over the place saying that, while his model may be downloaded and used for the PC version, it's not a public release and shouldn't be sent out or given to anyone else.

I could take hi-res screenshots of the MC in action if anyone's interested.

And my stance? Oh well..haha I'm gonna use him on the PS3 version. :lol
