Lost Odyssey

The reviews are good enough, but even the positive ones stress that the story is pretty bland, so I'll pass on this one.

Too bad too. I was really looking forward to it, but from what I've heard, this doesn't seem to be my kind of game. Eh, it's not like I would be able to ever find the money to buy it.

Did anyone pick this up yet? I'm still working on like four games, so it might be a while before I pick this one up myself.

Game Informer and IGN both gave it pretty decent scores (above 8/10) so that's encouraging.

Well, here are some quotes from people who have started playing Lost Odyssey.

Lost Odyssey is a traditional turn based JPRG. I've been playing it the last few days and I'm loving it. I feel like it is very reminiscent of FFX in the way they did the character movement and viewpoints. I feel like this is an unofficial FF

Yeah, I've been playing it since Wednesday. I'm really enjoying it. What's interesting to me is that, like pretty much all JRPGs, the main character is dour and depressed, woe-is-me, but unlike most other JRPGs characters he actually has a reason to be, heh.

I'm really enjoying it and I don't feel that the mainstream gaming press has been giving it a fair shake. If you had replaced the words "Lost" and "Odyssey" with "Final" and "Fantasy" and put a roman numeral (maybe a dash and a numerical number, too) then it would be getting high 8s and 9s.

Anyway I'm enjoying it and it's probably the most beautiful JRPG out right now.

I've really been enjoying it as well. I also agree with the above commenter that if this was a FF game, it'd be getting much higher scores.

Gameplay is pretty average, but the story and character development thus far has been grand. I just beat disk 1 and am officially hooked.

These are from an LJ community called girl_gamers. Here's a link to the entire thread if you want to check it out. Just a fair warning, though, there's mild spoilers and some cussing in that topic.

From what I've seen from the couple gameplay videos I watched, it reminds me of Final Fantasy X a lot, which is my favorite Final Fantasy, so I really think I'm gonna get this one.

I love Lost Odyssey so far...im towards the end of disc three and i could not be happier with the game...

Too me its an "old school" RPG, it brings back some traditional elements in RPGs that i feel has been lost with todays Kotors and Mass Effect's...

I refer to it as Final Fantasy XIV for the time being, because it feels like every Final Fantasy smashed together, which is a good thing for a FF fanboy such as myself.

Although its being on Four Disc is beyond me, it dosent seem very compressed and the loading time is kinda long...but again, multiple disc is something that reminds me of "old school" games. (I.E. Final Fantasy, Legend of Dragoon, etc.)

Tread carefully my good sir. You are now on very thin ice. I'd suggest you choose your next words carefully, for they may be your last. :lol

Okay, now, more on topic. With all the good things people are saying about Lost Odyssey suddenly, I may still have to get it.

i dunno if this game is gonna be any good or not, but the song they play in teh commercial made me want to not buy it, or even aknoledge its existence.
