Game Boy gets a C for E3

Strengths:
-DS backwards compatibility means that developers won't abandon GBA development anytime soon

Weaknesses:
-Nintendo's new focus on DS games may leave GBA owners stuck with more and more third-party games
-Most third-party games are crap

Overall:
A weak showing of games compared to previous years. Could GBA be on the way out?

Screw what they think.

I mean come on...... look at all the GREAT titles brought out over the last 1 year.... rehashed and non-rehashed.

I am sure good stuff will come out, but I am also sure that they need to concentrate their games on the DS now so that they can defend the handheld market.

Well honestly I think the GBA did have a bit of a poor showing, as far as number of games. BUT! The quality of the ones they did have make up for it, IMO. Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap alone is really awesome. I'm really looking forward to it. :D

I do have to agree with them about the third party games though. All of my GBA games are first party, none of the third party games interest me, or I just have them on console where they're superior.

GBA will do fine as long as they keep the 1st party games coming. I'm not talking ports though. What they really need is something groundbreaking...another Tetris or Mario Land that will be remembered for years to come. Easy said then done, I know, but that's what they need.

But the FF games they are porting aren't from the SNES, so I don't know if that counts as far as what Neph is talking about.

I just haven't yet found an impressive 3rd party GBA game yet. 1st party games dominate, as i'm sure they will also do on the DS.

Speaking of the DS, wouldn't a multiplayer Pikmin game be cool? Just I thought I had...

I heard a rumor about a Pikmin game for DS, no idea if it is true or not. But anyway, the only 3rd party titles I've ever bought for my GBA (when I had one) were the Golden Sun duo and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

I'm pretty sure the FF games being remade for GBA are the SNES ones.....I just looked and it's FF I and II that are being ported with additions.

I thought the first 2 Final Fantasy games were on the NES? I could be wrong though. I do know that I have Final Fantasy for the NES.

I don't know if Golden Sun counts as third party. Camelot seems more like a second party to Nintendo lately.

I thought the first one came out in the early 90's on the SNES.....meh.

I forgot I bought one other third party game: One of the Castlevanias, can't remember which. It was ok...

Yay, I wasn't entirely wrong! :p

Were they any good? I still have my SNES and NES, just few games for them (I have no idea where they went).

FF2 and FF3 are EXPENSIVE for the Snes so if you decide you want them.... be prepared to shell out some $$

I saw them at a local game store for like $20-$30. If they're worth a lot, maybe I'll pick them up, beat em and sell em on ebay for a lot more than I paid. I didn't play many RPG's for the SNES, and none for the NES, so I want to pick some up sometime. Any recommendations?

Go for it, but not if you're looking for a similar experience to the FF games on the PSone. I and II are a lot more difficult for one thing, more boring for another. But you can still tell that they're FF.

Then it's a good thing I've never played the PSone FF's. Maybe. But I might also be missing out....

Does anyone have a GBA Player for their GCN? I might get one and get the remakes for them rather than dust off my SNES and NES. I think I need a new AC adapter for my NES anyway.....
