Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn hype thread!

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is a game I am really excited about for the Wii. Here is some info on it for everyone who's interested. :)

-Sequel to Path of Radiance, although it takes place a full three years after PoR

-New central character: Macaiah, a mysterious girl with strange powers

-Macaiah is friends with Sothe (returning character from PoR) and the two of them are part of a Robin Hood-style resistance movement called the Dawn Brigade

-The Dawn Brigade is on a quest to find the rumored son of Daein's felled king (Daein is the country Macaiah and Sothe are from)

-The Dawn Brigade's journey is part one of a massive, four-part saga that greatly exceeds the scope of any previous Fire Emblem title. Each part shows the story from a different angle, and intermittently brings in grown-up versions of characters from the original as they explore never-before-seen parts of Tellius

-Compared to PoR, RD has more of everything - more chapters, more characters, more cut-scenes, more spells, more weapons, more classes

-Even if you haven't played PoR, RD has a story that can stand on its own

-Control options include using a Gamecube controller or the classic controller

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

this game looks really good , it's one of my "must-have"

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

yeah man it is really hard, i haven't finished difficult mode yet but im on chapter 28, it's really frustrating when the enemy kill one of my weak units. it makes me think twice before making a move

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

Ah, fantastic! This game sounds like it could be very good. I'm confused though....will I have to play Path of Radiance to know what's going on in this game, or is it a pick up and play game? :-\

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

well is a pick up and play, the story like mai said is enough to stand on his own.

also i know tha the USA version is easier than the japanese, however the game still is really hard.

also i read in wikipedia that each unit has 2 upgrades instead of 1, and this means that the game must be longer than path of radiance

No, the story in Dawn of the Goddess was written so that it could be understood without having played PoR. :) So you'll be able to play DotG without having played PoR.

But if you ever get the time, I would get PoR just because it's an awesome game. :D

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

you know what, mai? i think i might do just that, fire up the ol' PoR and give it a go, just for you :lol

only thing is, my 360 is so close to my wii (basically touching) so my wavebird no longer fits!

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

I actually played PoR twice in a row. The first time I beat it, I used Titania too much and so everyone else was underleveled. The second time, I ignored Titania and used everyone else, and it worked out a lot better. :)

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

i wanna play it 15 times to unblock ashnard, and to try and see all the support conversations of all the characters.

in my first play i didn't know the secret of soren (i'm not going to spoil you anything).

also yeah everyone that i know made the same mistake as you did mai, however in hard mode titania is almost useless to me, everyone gets too much battle experience

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

Titania sounds like a pretty awesome character. :lol

But either way, I'm definitely going to pick of DotG for the Wii when I get another one. I'll probably pick up PoR as well, just because. :)

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

damn i need help in the last mission of difficult mode, :-\. i can't beat it.

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

I want this game when it's released here, even though I don't have a Wii. x)

I don't like Titania. Although it's fun watching her chop enemies into neat little quarters (well... I can dream) at the beginning of the game.

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

in hard mode titania is almost useless, at the end of the game she is on lvl 20 and she can't kill anyone with one attack (well x2 XD).

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

I have never played a FE game but have always been meaning too. Maybe I'll start with the Gamecube one.

Start with the GBA one. I worked on it for four years to unlock all of the supports and beat it on all difficulty modes. Im talking aobut the first one. Its supports were so good that I wrote three fanfiction books about them. It might seem a little dated now, so if you prioritize gameplay over story, get Sacred Stones.

Fire Emblem FTW!!! :rockin

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

getting all the supports is what makes all fire emblem games have a huge replay value, that's what i love about them

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

I saw some screenshots for it...didn't look so good. They're only screenshots though.

Re: Fire Emblem: Dawn of the Goddess hype thread!

I gotta say, the names for these games are getting dumber and dumber every other year.
