Final Fantasy 13

It seems that this title might not be a sony exclusive. Lets cross our fingers and hope that we have another defector to the 360. Still waiting on MGS 4 to come to the 360..............

Well perhaps this article from 5 days ago might shed some possible light. If this is true then, I hate to say because I am a playstation fan, Sony is in deep deep doo doo.

Final Fantasy XIII heading to Xbox 360?

Posted Mar 22nd 2007 11:35AM by Richard Mitchell

The PS3 exclusivity rumor train is unstoppable these days. Just days ago it was revealed that both Devil May Cry 4 and Ace Combat 6 were going multiplatform, and now we hear, courtesy of GameSpot, that the one of the biggest exclusives of all may be spreading the console love as well. Yes, it appears that Final Fantasy XIII -- you know, "that RPG" -- could be jumping the fence in search of greener pastures. In an interview with Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, Georges Fornay, president of Sony Computer Entertainment France, hinted at the possibility. Fornay noted that development costs for games have skyrocketed, making it difficult for 3rd party developers to produce exclusive titles. Said Fornay, "As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion." Square-Enix has yet to comment on Fornay's statement.

Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, recently added fuel to this rumor, stating that the FFXIII's White Engine is capable of multiplatform development, and that he believed making FFXIII a multiplatform game would be a "wise" decision. Is the Xbox 360 about to pick up another of the PS3's heavy hitters? Only time will tell. If Final Fantasy XIII were to come out on Xbox, would it sway your decision to get a PS3?

It wouldn't be a first for FF. Remember they only went to Sony in the first place because Nintendo stubbornly stuck to the cart system a little too long. You can't blame these companies for going multiplatform. Why not maximize your exposure? In a way it's good for us gamers. It gives everyone the opportunity to have access to almost all the games available without having to dish out money for all the systems.

Sony is losing their grip super fast. With other titles like GTA, Tomb Raider, Ridge Racer, Resident Evil, and I even read that VF5 will be coming to the 360, it's getting to where you may only need one of the two systems, and not both. I still consider the Wii a totally separate entity because they have gone their own way and offer a completely different library then the other two, and at this point the 360 has the clearer edge over the PS3.

If FFXIII goes to the 360, there will be no reason at all for me to get a ps3... and i probably won't for a long long time

Can't say I disagree with you on that one. As huge a Sony fan as I am I just wouldn't see how spending over $600 on a system would be justified. Sony would really need to wow us with some first party titles in order to draw people in.

Yeah I read in a Game Informer that this game was coming to the 360. And not only that, but there will be two FFXIII games. Both based on the same plot, but one is more of the dark side called Final Fantasy XIII Versus. Kinda crazy deal...

I made a boo-boo. Next month's Game Informer says PS3 only. But a few months back it said it was coming to the 360 also. I got them mixed up. :-\

You know... funny thing ... It's crazy to see in how the last 7 years have changed exclusive wise.

I NEVER THOUGHT I would've seen Final Fantasy on another system besides a Playstation. Then the Gamecube received Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles... the GBA received a few Final Fantasy Games... and now the DS and Wii.

Going back to this thread last year, I never would have believed it would be on a different system as well.

But wasnt the original Final Fantasies on the SNES before being remade on Playstation and the same company did have some efforts focused on handhelds at that time before the age of the Playstation.

Original Final Fantasy was on NES. Their sequels ended up on NES twice and three of them were on SNES as well.
