downloads not free?

i reads an article that says the game download for revolution
will not be free people will have to pay for them and not just that people
will have to pay more for some volumes of games you'd think they would have just made the
download free but now they go and do this well it just goes to show you good things come at a price.

I heard that 3rd party games may come at a price and will be offered if the 3rd party wants to, but I didn't hear about Nintendo charging for theirs...

at least yet :)

yeah it would... but they would be insane not to charge for them :lol

thats like PS offering their past games for free.....

Its just cool that you can D/L the old games

Ya but Nes games are like 20 years old.

I can still understand charging people for it, but:

1) You should get some kind of solid verification that you did in fact purchase said game (like getting a certificate in the mail or something).

2) NES and SNES games should be dirt cheap, or they should be "sold" in "bundles" or something like that.

I'm still not too comfortable with the whole "paying for something that doesn't physically exist" thing. Plus, would you be able to store these games on memory cards and copy them over to other memory cards, or would they be stored on a hard drive or what? Still too many questions surrounding this...

actually... its a file, so they physically exist :)

Nes games today range from $1-3 each cart only... some titles fetch more complete / mint, and some are just rare and get good money.
Market is made by conditions / completeness / rarity.

Well we dont know the full details so who knows how they will do it. Im pretty sure you'll need a credit card to do this, so im guessing that you will have it stated on your statement and it should be on file with Nintendo about previous purchases. But also like most downloads like MP3's and stuff you might just get one chance to download and then thats it. Its kind of like if you bought the real thing, if you lose it they will not replace it since once its in your hands its your responsibilty. Im sure if you are unable to download for some reason then they will refund your money.

yah i just read this in an article is it rue ? dunno nobody does yet
lets just hope its not true so that  way we can play
the old game we all like for free

I think stealth meant in terms of the cart. Carts are so rare for those early systems that you have to find them at a grage sale or at Ebay. I honestly haven't found many regularr stores like your own, B.V.

I didn't really mean a cart, I meant more of like a receipt or something.

If they become available for download across the globe, I don't think rarity/condition should be a problem. I'm just saying that Nintendo has a tendency to charge a lot for old games. Look at the Classic Nes series on GBA. They weren't afraid to ask for $20 per game, even though they're 15 years old.

thats true, and is the reason why I havent bought them. Even though I want them really bad.

The used books stores in the town that I live in (and there are a lot of them) sell NES games from $1-5 per game. The rare ones can go up from there. Last week I saw the complete NES set of Mega Man games for $100, all bundled together. The SNES games are about $5-20. I haven't seen even the rare ones go for much more. The N64 games are still the pricey games. The cheapest I have seen at these stores are $10. And the good ones upwards to $35. Ebay fluctuates mainly because of auction "feeding frenzies" where two bidders go after the same product and bid simply to "win" with little regard to the end price.
If Nintendo charges for the downloads, I think it will still be worth it. I mean, they are all 15 or so years old. But I'd bet that they are more cleaned up than the originals.
I am actually going for the Nintendo Revolution when it comes out because of it's backwards compatibility with the Cube, and the downloads. So if new games are slow in coming to market, Nintendo will still technically have more titles than the 360 and the Ps3.
And that's my two cents worth...

So are they redoing some of these games or are they leaving them the way they were? I hope that they just leave them as they are. I hated buying SMB3 on GBA to find out it was the Super Mario All-Stars version with updated graphics and whatnot. I bought that game for nostalgia, plain and simple, and I want to play the game I played as a kid, not the updated version.

I am betting that the majority of the game will be the same. What I mean by cleaning them up is maybe taking some of the flaws out, and possibly adding the ability to save the game progress.
But my assumptions are just that. Like you I hope they don't screw them up to the point that I barely recognize the games anymore.

I personally dont mind the updated graphics. Although a part of me wants the original. As long as its not too much upgraded graphics and ill be fine.

thas what im talkin about i said i would like
to see them fix anything wrong with the game and
one of the tings that would be wrong with them if
they put them on a new system would be the graphics i would like to see
the graphics fixed up too but like what im saying don't change them game by adding stuff into
the game or taking stuff away from the game it would be pretty messed up if they did
