Do you think Nintendo fans are too passionate?

That's true, x2. Look at Halo 2. The hype on that is incredible, but I don't see FPS game development coming to a halt just because people think they can't compete with Halo 2. Everyone has their hook, the thing that makes their game worth buying or worth playing even if it's in the same genre as a mega-seller game like Halo 2 or Grand Theft Auto III. Look at all the GTA knock-offs that still managed to sell well even though they didn't live up to the standards set by GTA III.

Burnout rocks GT's world :)

but beyond that..... 3rd party games/companies..... they have to be somewhat intimidated.... I mean.... come on.... why not try to release a good game for the Gamecube? Look..... burnout 3 is only going to hit the Ps2 and Xbox (so far)..... why not on the Gamecube? There are many Gamecube owners that want the game.
So why do 3rd party companies just limit to Xbox and ps2..... it makes no sense. Even on the money issue The Xbox doesn't really sell better than the Gamecube.

I'm Baffled.... :-\

Talking about games that are both developed and published by Sony (which for the PS2 isn't a long list), I'd say that Rise to Honor, Parappa the Rapper 2, and Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain were a bit iffy.

Talking about games developed by Sony but released by a third party for the PS2, Lifeline didn't live up to the hype.

So I think really I was talking about Sony second parties. 989 Sports games come to mind. Maybe good in their own right, but sucky compared to the games put out by EA and Sega. Siren is another game that was decent but killed by other games in its genre such as Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and Resident Evil. The Getaway was a knock off of GTA.

Legend of Dragoon is ok but not as good as FFVII.

And I do like ICO. :)

I would think that releasing games on all three consoles would get more money than just releasing them on two. Even if you only sell like 10 copies on the Gamecube, that's 10 more than if you hadn't released it on the Cube at all.

Yup, I was thinking that too Neph. It takes money to make money, but if it takes to much you can't make much. I am not gonna pretend to know how much it costs to make and release a game, but I know it costs something! You also have to look into the future for some answers, for example Sony had a huge fanbase before PS2 and thats why the PS2 did so well, in terms of both support and finance. So yes, you are right BV, Xbox does not outsell Cube by much, but the fact of the matter is that it does outsell the cube. I think developers take that into consideration, and maybe in there eyes they know that building an Xbox fanbase now will greater the Xbox 2 fanbase, thus increasing income in the next gen.

I think my point was missed. By "intimidate" I didn't mean game quality wise, I just meant game audience wise.

The GC audience isn't a very big racing audience. But if you slap an F-Zero or a Mario on the title somewhere, it will sell. Maybe they even used previous sales on Burnout 1 and 2 to guage whether or not it would be worth it to release a third on te Cube, and maybe the first 2 didn't sell well. Or maybe game developers anticipate that Nintendo will slowly just kind of fade away from the console race, and they're jumping ship before it's too late.

For Burnout 3, the biggest reason they aren't releasing it on Gamecube is because the focus of Burnout 3 is the online play. Gamecube doesn't have a great online service, so that's why EA isn't releasing it on the Gamecube.

Do you think people will still play Halo franchise games in 20 years, though, like Zelda?  ;) I mean, the only franchises that have been around as long as Zelda are Mario, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong, and Pacman, I think. Could be wrong about that.

You forgot Metroid and Castlevania. :)
