Back during X10, Capcom revealed Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, the stand-alone prologue exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade that will bridge the gap between the first and second game. It will introduce the sequel's protagonist, Chuck Greene, father and master of duct taping stuff, as he works to free himself and his daughter from the desert town of Still Creek -- two years after the events of the first game, but three years before the events of the sequel.

Shacknews managed to secure the details while at Captivate in Hawaii, and says Capcom promises Case Zero will have "unique content not available in the full retail release of Dead Rising 2." Sadly, there's no mention of price or release date for Case Zero, but rest assured: You still have plenty of time to stock up on Zombrex before Dead Rising 2 launches on August 31.

The game snuck in today. It's a whooping 400 MS Points! Hands down one of the better XBLA games you can get for cheap. You get to test drive the new game, 200 Achievement points, and hell when's the last time you paid $5 for an XBLA? I mean seriously!? Plus your Level stats can transfer over to the main game of Dead Rising 2 when you purchase it!

can't wait to get my hands on this when I get home!

Also, there needs to be a co-op zombie game on consoles that isn't first person or contain Las Plagas zombies. There should be a spin-off dead rising where you co-op with others to save people and escape.

Dude, don't you know that Dead Rising 2 has co-op?

How It Works
Let's say you are playing through the campaign of "Dead Rising 2" and a friend wants to join your game. Lucky you! Your in-game cell phone will ring and you'll be asked if you want Player X to join your game. Say yes and you'll be kicked to a loading screen as your friend joins the fun. You won't lose progress (it doesn't send you back to the last checkpoint, for example), and when the load ends you'll be right back to where you were before he or she joined. When your friend wants to leave, you'll be able to continue on like nothing happened. Delightful.

Who Do They Play As?

Chuck Greene. Who do you play as? Also Chuck Greene. The idea for co-op is that you can bring your leveled up campaign character into their game, complete with inventory, special moves and, best of all, outfit. So while you're both playing as Chuck Greene, invariably one of you will be decked out in footie pajamas and a Blanka mask, while the other might be rocking a mini skirt and sweater set. Yes, the ridiculous costumes of "Dead Rising" are back.

What Do They Get For Joining You?
Apart from the fun of killing zombies with a friend? Plenty! While the host of the game is the one who "owns" campaign progress, the joining player can still get experience, cash and inventory items. Given that the first "Dead Rising" basically required multiple playthroughs, it's not a terrible idea to join a friends game on your first time through, just as a means of leveling up faster. You won't be able to progress your own campaign, but that's what playthrough number two is for.

When I saw "Dead Rising 2" running with co-op, I was a little stunned. The game was revealed a year ago and this was the first we had heard of it. Definitely thrilled that the guys at Blue Castle were able to pull it off, though. It'll make the zombie apocalypse way less lonely.

And yes I'm buying the 360 edition. I'm sold after playing this $5 prequel!

No, I didn't know. Nobody ever talks about it. Not even review sites or anything. This is going to be sweet!

One of the survivors gives you cash twice and the Casino has extra. That's what I've found so far.

ty sir! I'm so mad...

I didn't make it back in time and I gave the stuff to that dumb girl instead of Chuck's daughter!

And again with Microsoft exclusivity remaining only on half of Microsoft's platforms. Windows anyone?

Oh well, played this demo and certainly enjoyed it (free version) and am definitely looking forward to DR2 on PC.
