i want to invest in a lcd monitor about a 22 inch lcd monitor for my room rather then investing in a lcd tv because the monitor is whole lot cheaper, and i got few questions.

i know that i gotta get vga cables to connet the 360, and i know i have to get a converter box for my cable but how do i connect both converter box and vga cables. also how do you set up the sound for the vga cables becuase i saw on the pic of the vga cable that there are a red and white audio jack.

Please provide any links to equipment needed, and thanks in advance.

IF your going to be getting all of those things might as well get a LCD TV. And thats with major benefits, they will cost the same as a monitor. And you dont need to get all of those things as well.

Wouldnt you rather use HDMI cables or even Component to connect the Xbox anyway?

I dont mean to carry a negative tone, but I think it would be less periolous to get the LCD TV.

First off, the only way to get sound is to hook it up to some type of receiver that outputs to speakers. Unless your monitor comes with regular RCA inputs, but most 22" monitors don't. Actually I don't think any do.

Also, in order to get both your cable box and Xbox 360, I would recommend getting an HDMI switch. With this switch you can hook both of your consoles with HDMI cables and then from the switch use an HDMI-to-DVI cable to hook up to the monitor.

HDMI Switch from MonoPrice.com

With all this said though, I would recommend getting a 22" LCD TV as well. You will more than likely end up spending just as much to buy all the components to get both your 360 and your cable box to connect to the monitor.

One other thing, if you decide to use the VGA cable for the 360, you will have to constantly plug and unplug it in order to use your cable box. You won't be able to switch between the two even if there is more than one connection on the monitor.

For all your cable needs though, get them at www.monoprice.com. Great cables with better prices than retail.

thanks guys, after taking these things into considerations buy a lcd tv will cost alot less even though the monitor itself is less then the tv, adding all of the other stuff (converter box and vga cables) its gonna cost me more. thanks again.
