Blu-Ray for the 360?

Microsoft is now saying that if Blu-Ray wins the format war (and with the news about Warner Bros. going Blu-Ray exclusive, that seems very likely), they will try to get a Blu-Ray add on for the 360.

I have to say, this is a rather strange turn of events. Blu-Ray is made by one of Microsoft's biggest rivals. Hearing it's potentially heading to the 360 is something I don't think anyone expects.
 
Yeah this is old news, but yup it's bound to happen. COME ON BLU-RAY!! woot lol Seriously it's not the fact that it's made by Sony, but Blu-Ray disc are so amazing and can do WAY more than HD-DVD by far.
 
i think that's a low blow from microsoft..... they have a lot of sales why do they want to copy another console who is not having as much sales as they have??? instead of trying to copy another company they should concentrate in making even more games for the 360
 
It's an odd one ain't it? Microsoft will have to license the technology from Sony to compete with Sony. Well, in a way. At least their games are not in a Blu-Ray format.

Because gamers complain if they cannot watch movies and go online these days.
 
yeah blu rays are awesome. they now come with psp features, where u put the bluray in ur ps3, and send a file off of the disc ti your psp to watch on the go

Wow Hines... I guess the fact that its a ADD-ON means everyones going to get it. And saying Sony has nothing is the most stupid thing I've heard you say.

EDIT: I hope you know Hines, that if they do this, the Add-on will be at least $200-250. And is only for movies meaning no games will be released on the format.

I love the fact that, for months, you talked about how worthless Blu-Ray was in a video game console, and now, as soon as Microsoft has a chance of getting it, you say Sony has nothing. If you thought it was worthless in the first place, why should it even matter to you, which console has a Blu-Ray drive?
 
besides microsoft getting a sony hardware is one of the lowest blows microsoft could make... no i'm wrong the worst would be if they create a motion control.....
 
To all: It's Blu-ray. Not Blu-Ray, Blue-ray, Blue-Ray, bluray, etc. At least properly spell the intellectual property.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft stated before marketing their HD DVD drive that if Blu-ray should take hold and win the high definition format war, that they could easily make an add-on player that supported it.

As for me, I'd rather get the dual-format drive for my PC and just go from there, though I doubt I'd be able to sell my current Xbox 360 HD DVD player for any reasonable amount of money.

In my opinion even those will not be a great investment either. Since I'm sure all HD-DVD movies will be ported over eventually. Unless the studios have specifically said they won't.

Blu-ray®. Happy?

The 360 will not move over to a Blu-ray® format for their games. It would be like handing the whole console war over to Sony. Bad idea.

In all honesty, it's the equivalent of adding a DVD player to a system. Once Blu-Ray wins the war, it's the new movie standard, and as such everyone will be using it on everything. It's not exactly copying someone else.
