Sadness, this is utter booboo from doodooville.
I have no clue why Sony would do such a thing, yet Best Buy and Circuit City does the same thing sadly with the 360, refusing to carry Core units....those cheeky monkies >.>!

they may do three things here.
1. lower the price of the 40GB and then release another type of the PS3 with backwards compat.
2. add backwards compat. to the 40GB
3. do both things
This is just speculation from me but, wouldn't those seem very obvious?

I was actually thinking "Wow, the reason I didn't buy a 40gig PS3 was because, firstly, I'm not ready to get a PS3 yet, secondly, I wanted the features of the 80gig PS3. Now, since I didn't buy a PS3 within a year of its launch, I'll be forced to get an inferior version of it."Strubes said:

By features, are you talking about backwards compatibility and a larger hard drive? Chances are, you have a PS2, correct? And, if you needed the extra hard drive space, you could just buy a hard drive. Problem solved, and all for less than the higher models.
My PS2 is on the verge of death right now. I've had the thing for over 6 years, and I don't know how much longer it'll last, unfortunately.Strubes said:

Either way, this basically clinches it. I'm saving my money for building a new PC, and push getting a PS3 back a bit.

Its the Logitech Play Link. On amazon it's $60 but, if you search around there's sales for it on other sites. It's been out since the PS2 and original Xbox first had online.

no, just plug one logitech thing into your xbox, and plug another logitech thing into your wire/wireless router. the network sees it as an ethernet cable, but its just two boxes talking to each other.
