as an Xbox 360 owner...my first Playsation 3 experience....

Personally, (and a lot of people will hate me for this) i think buying an HDTV when your old tv works is just wasteful. I mean, yeah, it's better quality, but is it worth spending up to $2,000 for a brighter picture when you have a fully functional, good tv? I think not. One of the few things i agree with nintendo on this generation.

Yeah, I agree, you can target the 'adult' market all you want, but they seemed to forget the adult market has better things to spend money on than a $1000 TV to play $60 games on a $500 console, while Nintendo targeted(oh no, I'm biased because Nintendo is the only one that makes sense in this part) everyone, including kids/teens, who really only spend money on entertainment like movies and games.

Firstly, you can find many hi-def TV's for $500, and some really good quality ones (like the 1080p one my family recently got for our living room) for $1000.

Also, we recently bought a new HD TV because one of our older TV's just stopped working altogether. I think this is the case with most people. The situation as I see it is if you need a new TV, why not upgrade it to an HD one?

Well, that's the thing, my grandma has a TV with dials that still works just fine, and you can actually see things on it. TVs last for a while.

I played Gears of War on my friends Plasma screen, then on Uncle Tims Widescreem tv. The differrence was amazing.

depends... a lot of shooters on the Xbox have been getting the better ratings... not just marginally either. I think Rainbow Six Vegas was a good comparison to this.

I don't think the developers are doing real well for the PS3 right now. On the contrary... developers are doing pretty good for the 360... BUT the Ps3 is starting to come around from it's slow launch... and really, the current price is NOT BAD AT ALL for containing a Blue Ray player. Even though the price isn't bad, I still say $500 + for a video game console is too much... the 360 costs more than that if you add on the HD DVD player.

I hate to say it... but free online with the Ps3, the slicker menu (IMO), and a few other features do make it tempting... and look better than the 360. Once you get to the game department... the Ps3 just doesn't compare at this time. Like I said though, it is gaining speed.

YES...the free online is a big one. My thing is, we live in an age where anything is possible, and everything has a price. The fact that the PS3 has SIXAXIS, an internet browser, free online, the Blu-Ray....it kinda makes Microsoft look like they're not willing to cough up the cash to make the better system. After playing the PS3, I was definitely left thinking to myself "why doesnt MY system do that?" I don't think PS3 owners EVER think that about the 360. Sure they may wanna play Gears, Bioshock, and such...but who doesnt wanna play MGS4, Drake's Fortune, and...even freaking FLOW looks damn cool! and the HD thing...I didn't think it was all that important until I played a few games on an HD TV...it's important....

Yeah, but I bet your Grandma isn't playing a PS3 or 360 on it.

@blu

i tend to factor out the features when buying a console. I dont buy a game console to watch movies, i buy it to play great games. which the ps3 just doesnt have in my opinion.

Lair, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank Future, Warhawk, Uncharted. It has some pretty solid titles.

Thats not all.....we have Haze,(better looking)GTA4, God of War 3, FFXIII, MGS4, LitteBig Planet, Home, and etc coming our way for 2008-2009. ;)

Really u can't factor out the features anymore hines. both Sony and Microsoft are pushing the 360 and PS3 as entertainment systems anymore. The only one not going that route is Nintendo

The purpose of the PS3 is to be the game system and yet mantain a home entertainment system, which was what they worked on before video games. They wanted to make a multi-purpose system to serve not just one purpose but using this to attract more people.

That's very true.

Hines...you wanted a PS3 a while ago...do you hate it now that you can't afford it again? :lol

:lol Nice. I'm not surprised if I try to save up for a Playstation 3 myself. Those things are smexy. :lol

You fell in love with it for a while. And you already know the game selection is getting pretty big. You were basically drooling over it in PM's and that thread you made saying you wanted to buy a PS3. Then, all of a sudden, you didn't get the job and you start laughing at everything Sony tries to do. :lol

It's just kind of funny how fast things can change. :)

And they may not necessarily be games he likes. That's his opinion and it isn't anyone's place to judge whether it's correct or not.

I'll be honest, Heavenly Sword will be overshadowed by God of War III, like it or not, Lair, plenty of people got frustrated by the wonky controls, Ratchet and Clank, may not have changed a ton, but it did a darn good job keeping it good, Warhawk, eh, let's face it, it has no offline, and it may have good online, but still. Uncharted, haven't played it, looks good, I'm alright with it, Haze, if it stays exclusive, I'll try it, seeing if nectar is a good gimmick, FFXIII, eh, don't like the FF's of late, MGS4, don't like MGS, and LittleBigPlanter looks cool.

I agree with fhq. God of War will overshadow just about every game out and/or coming out around that time.
