I voted moderate success. I imagine the PS3 will take off, regardless of price, because of its larger fanbase and the touting of its raw power.

I voted a moderate success because I don't think any one console will have a decisive edge over the other this time around. It seems to me that all three major players are using different means to achieve the same end. And that is to make for an awesome gameplay. And I think all three will be successfull, being that more gamers are buying multiple consoles instead of buying just one type.

BTW, shouldn't this be in the XBox forum??

I also voted moderate success because I don't think that either of them will completely dominate the others, and all three of them have very large fanbases.

Moderate success voted here too.

I really think the PS3 is gonna dominate. Even with the earlier release date I just don't think that Microsoft will do what they need to overtake the console war, at least, not this gen. However, I think the earlier release date will give them a competitive advantage, and based on this gen's sales, I think they're a force to be reckoned with.

My buddy works at wal-mart and theyve had a 360 on display there for a while now........he says it has been freezing up non-stop since they got it and doesnt think anyone will want to keep it a week after they bought it

I doubt they will release a console that doesn't work...

Have you seen how people treat stuff at Wally World?? I am not surprised at all that it would freeze there. I went to the Wally World near my old house about two weeks ago, and the PS2 was frozen and the controller looked as if someone threw it up against the wall. And the DS thatw as on display had the stylus stolen, and the touch screen was trashed. So I think it's the store's fault and not the 360's fault that it was already broken.

It happens. No matter how big a company is, there is always the chance that their product will fail. Especially the first xbox's that had the crappy drives. And Dart also has a point, the public isnt going to care if they "accidently" mess up a store's console.

Oh and I voted that it will edge out one of the consoles. Even Nintendo has a chance of edging out one of the other two since it is so different. Every console for this next generation has a good chance of winning the console war.

i think that its head start will at least give it moderate success, and possibly make it the number one console of the coming generation.however, sony does have a huge propaganda machine on its side, and lets not forget that the big N is going in new directions this time around....who knows what could happen?

It will be successful, but I think the PS3 will ultimately win out this generation again. I'd say about 90% of the people that come into GameStop ask about the 360 out of curiosity but say that what they really want is the PS3.

I think the 360 will probably end up second place, but perhaps even third. I don't want to say that it will be like the Dreamcast, but at the same time, with having such an early release, it pretty much has its cards on the table, while Nintendo and Sony still have their cards up their sleeves.

I wonder if it is too late for a Revolution or PS3 redesign on some aspects to further compete with the 360.

I am a bit worried about the revolution though..... it is different, they are trying new things..... things that are completely different, not just adding a dvd player or harddrive..... IMO it is either going to completely kick butt, or bomb..... for some reason, I am not seeing a middle ground anymore.

I dunno, Nintendo still has a pretty loyal fanbase. There is a good number of people who will buy it just because its Nintendo, but they might alienate most gamers who don't follow Nintendo that closely. That would give them a decent number of sales while not really being an exceptionally high number or sales either.

I remember saying this a while back and I stick with it; PS3 will be on top but it will be a heck of alot closer than the last round. I simply do not see Nintendo being ahead of the pack this time, I wish, but it's just not likely.

I think MS really screwed themselves by not having enough systems at launch. The head-start they got with releasing it early isn't going to do them any good if not that many people even have the system. I'm hearing from people in the know that the next big shipment probably won't hit till January.

they were supposed to have 3 million shipped by end December.... call me crazy, but with 3 million systems, there shouldn't be a supply problem.

I voted only a moderate success. They have such a huge fan base and people want it just because its "in" right now. But there are some serious prblems I have heard of with the 360. First, there is like a 1 in3 chance of the power supply blowing up or catching on fire. Second, if you stand the 360 up, 2 or 3 pins stick out and dig gouges into the disk, and then there were some others I heard.

Still, people like the XBox and don't care what others say. They will fork out $400 for it even if it breaks. And of course, we haven't really seen anything from the other two systems yet (as in, they're not releases yet) so I can't really say how the 3 of them will do.

Your crazy :p.
Seriously though when you think about it three million divided up by Japan, Europe and North America is not alot. Especially in a Month.
Any ways I heard today that M$ has infact been shipping consoles out each week to the head of reatilers, but they don't want to send them to stores until they are stocked up on them so they have plenty to sell right before christmas.
