Will you play online?

Considering that it's free and that I'll need practically nothing but a wireless router to play online, I know I will, but what about you?

That's the case for me too. I can't really see why anyone with internet access wouldn't.
well, you do need a broadband internet connection. If you have dial-up, you're skrewed.

I'm screwed then. My phone company offers broadband, but not in my area. It's also way more expensive than what I'm paying for an extra phone line and my ISP. That and if I did pester my phone company to add that feature to my area, I'd have to get a new computer to take full advantage of the broadband.

yeah, sorry about that. I play online with my PS2, and I can tell you personally you're gonna miss out.

what about trying other phone companies? As for a new computer as long as you have 512MBs of ram and the Firefox web browser and you should be fine. Oh and an ethernet/network card. How old is your computer?

Out here we have one phone company. As for my computer, I'll tell you if you keep the laughter to a minimum. I purchased it in August of 1999. It's a Gateway with a Pentuim Celeron and about 96MB or RAM. I don't know exactly how big the HD space is. I assume it's the only high point because my wife has like a million pictures on it and it has yet to crash. My wife and I are planning to buy a new one soon. But since it doesn't give me any problems, and it still handles the web easily enough, it hasn't been a huge priority. And since I'm not big on PC games, I haven't had the need for an upgrade.
When I do go and buy one, I'm going to need some suggestions. I loathe Gateway. Their customer service is terrible. Two hours on the phone one night because had forgotten the password for something. I'm not sure about HP, being that my inlaws purchased one, and it crashed the minute they signed online. BV says Dell is a downer also. I am at a loss. I may end up just building one. But who knows??

Well then Im your man if you need sugggestions for computers. As for buying a pre-built one, get a Dell. Their customer service is okay but its better than the rest (but dont count on it for to long with computer companies outsourcing there customer service to other countries). The thing with building a PC yourself is that you have to troubleshoot the computer yourself. You would have to figure out exactly what the problem is and then call the appropriate company. Even then they might say that such-and-such is the reason why there product isnt working and that you should call the other company. Compatibility issues are going to be your biggest problem so research all you can before you build one. As with your current computer, if it supports at least 512MBs of RAM then you should be good. You dont need much hard drive space to run the internet.

You think that's bad? You HONESTLY think that's pathetic? Up until a year ago (August 2004), I had used the same old pentium 2 that I had been using for the past decade. It had a few kilobytes of ram and 1MB of hard drive. Your computer could play DOOM 3 compared to my old one.

I used my P2 266mhz with 300+ ram for about 6+ years. I finally built my new one back in 2003.

Anyway, I had that thing running games it shouldn't have been :lol IE Descent 3, Freespace 2, and others.

It was a good system.

yes, I will play online :)

I know someone who's MP3 player would be a better computer than their computer...literally.

lol Well the ipods are getting up there with 40+ gb hard drives.

I will too, provided I get a wireless router, and by the time that comes around, I'll be halfway through my senior year at school.
