will revolution be a flop due to lack of 1st party games.. i don't know yet, but i feel that nintendo should not make any mario games, is more than enough.. and should come up with more mature games. look at what scea come up with god of war.
 
first of all the Mario games,Zelda,donkey,metroid,Pokemon and Kirby games make the most money.

but i would stop with the Mario power tennis and Mario golf. they are good games, but more and more people are slapping on the kiddy image on Nintendo. just keep Mario at its roots that's fine.

mature games do appeal to the people that try to maintain a mature self image, they just lie to themselves saying that Mario cart is for kids. but yes Nintendo needs to snare the adult market too. just please dint sell your soul to the devil by making an over the top god of war game with is good just too much spurting blood is just stupid. it is just over the top and fanatical is what it is. its like today the more grotesque and horrific games are the more "cool" they are. its just dumb and people need to get over it. i like games like GTA and res 4 but games like god of war and postal 2 are just crying out for teenagers that want to see a large amount of blood.
 
I cannot believe what you just said. Nintendo has the best first party games hands down. I am an Xbox gamer too so don't think I am biased. If anything Revolution will flop from lack of third party support.

Thats pretty much why the Gamecube didnt do as well as the other systems.
 
Nintendo and the kiddy image argument is about as old as the argument about the Xbox's weight. The only people saying they are kiddy are people who hate Nintendo anyways. All the Resident Evil games are on this console, and are in no way kiddy. One of them is even exclusive. They have MGS on the Gamecube, a very cool, very not kiddy game. Killer 7 is not kiddy. The Metroid Prime games, though not gory or uber-violent are not kiddy. Geist look really cool, and is not kiddy. Maybe the Nintendo mascot (Mario) and some other popular Nintendo characters are geared more toward kids, but that doesn't make them kiddy.
 
here is the kicker. stop making Mario base ball and tennis and help lose the kiddie image and gain some older gamers. or continue making them and lose the respect of anyone over 13.

first party games do make the most money but its where you lose some of the fan base. its not a good gamble and it shows in overall sales.

the gamecube did one thing it almost beat the xbox but it sold 1 million less units. i thinks it GCN with 18.1 million and XBOX with 19 million. where the real money lies is in tennis they just buy more games. I'm 16 i like Nintendo maybe i may be considered uncool when it comes to my choice in games. i liked the Mario tennis but i don't want to see Nintendo go down in flames. considering the PS2 sold 80 million units just by making there image a bit more mature and more third party support.
 
Doubtful. The revolution has amazing specs. It's more than likely that Nintendo will gain a lot of ground on the PS3 and the 360 despite its later release (projected late 2006). The development teams are taking there time to do it right. True that Nintendo has a reputation for playing toward the kiddie image, but that's also a means to steal some of the market away from microsoft and sony.

The innovation of the controller itself will give the Revo a boost once it hits shelves.
 
OK here are the three reasons the ps2 seceded

1early launch
2.a large variety of mature and e rated titles
3. ability to play DVD's and go on-line
4.grand theft auto pure and simple it sold the system

People don't like change, expecially when hundreds of their hard earned dollars are at stake. The "innovative" controller may alienate as many buyers as it brings in. If anything Nintendo's stance on innovation will be the reason they flop.

Innovation can go both ways. It can be Nintendo's downfall or it will catapult them to the top. I like change. I dont mind innovation. It keeps things fresh. I want new ways to play games. Not the same old rehash games. I believe if you dont change you will flop from people getting bored and tired from the same old thing.

Change is a double edge sword. If you don't change, people get bored and lose interest (atari age). If you do change, people despise it.

I don't know if the Rev will flop. but it worries me to see the RE 5 is not slated for the system. I don't know... but that is retarded of Capcom when so many of the RE4 were sold on the Gamecube.... 500K +. I doubt Sony will sell that much RE4.

In some respects, I honestly think Microsoft and Sony are working together to try to kill off Nintendo... whether it be buying out 3rd party titles for exclusivity.... or what have you.
Capcom is being a turd though... as they will take Gamecube games and sell them on the Ps2, but they won't sell games such as Devil May Cry on the Gamecube.

Nintendo is honestly trying to get ahead.... but there are tons of factors against them right now.

Nintendo won't fail..... I can guarantee you of that. BUT they are up against some stiff competition. I think the competition is afraid that if Nintendo gets back up... it will be KO time for both because NIntendo knows how to run a good business and how to make / get quality titles.

I think they're more focused on competing with each other at this point. I doubt either Sony or Microsoft is really taking Nintendo seriously at this point.

They made their own bed. They can still compete with Sony and Microsoft, but beating them in the next console war is going to be a completely uphill battle.
 
I can't really see Nintendo winning the next console war....nothing personal against Nintendo but

Microsoft- Betting an early release can help them win
Sony- Hoping that being the powerhouse can help win
Nintendo- Hoping to get a controller done before the other consoles are released.
 
My sources have told me that XBOX 360 games are definitely going to be $60. That also means that PS3 games will be $60. This is because the systems themselves are so powerful that it takes more money to make games for them. Nintendo might seem crazy, but if they are preaching for simpler stuff so that design costs stay down, are you going to buy Madden at $60 for your PS3 or buy it for Revolution at $50 and save some money? Maybe some people will go for the extra bells and whistles and pay that extra $10, but for a lot of people, the lower price will be more appealing.

While it didn't really work for them this generation, I think having a lower price point next gen can only help Nintendo, especially if the PS3 launches at more than $300 with $60 games.

Anyway, I don't see Nintendo getting back to #1, but I don't think they'll flop, either.

like I said before... I understand cartridges being more expensive.... but CD's/ DVD's... NO WAY.

I don't know what to think about the Nintendo hardware.... they may really come out and surprise us. Look how well the DS is doing and how far ahead of the PSP it is.
Not to mention.... LOOK at all the killer games that are unique and DS only.

Then again, a lot of times when it comes to electronics people relate price with quality. That is to say, a $200 dvd player is going to be a lot better than a $50 one, and if you're shopping for a DVD player you may as well go all the way instead of settling for something less.

I don't know, but I don't think price will play a big factor in the next gen. It didn't play one in this gen, or in the generation before it, so why would it now? If people are willing to pay $50 for a game, then they'll pay $60, especially if that game promises to be better than everything before it.

Not to mention.... LOOK at all the killer games that are unique and DS only.

Bah, pure subjectivity is all that is. I've seen one "killer game" for the DS and even that seems to still be gimmicky. The only reason the DS is selling well is because its a Nintendo handheld. The PSP has creeped its way into the market and will continue to gain a larger fanbase.

If Nintendo's going to come out big on the Revolution, its going to have nothing to do with the price point.

$60 for a game is not ridiculous some games this gen cost $60 and those usually sold better than the $50 ones. I read this article once when a developer was comparing movies to Video games and he was saying how the prices to watch a movie had doubled in the past 10 years from $5 to $10, even though movies are the same length as they were in the past. Video game prices have not increased in the last ten years and we got longer games, better graphics, better A. I etc. for the same price we were paying 10 years ago for games. Plus in the next gen games are gonna need more people to develop for them for the better graphics, A.I, and Bigger Environments. The $10 increase is not a big deal and is overdue.
