Why Is The XBOX Running Away With All Of The Good RPG Titles?

Hi People!

Is it just me?Do I need to get out more?

Why is the XBOX getting all the good RPG'S?"FF XIII" is one I can't wait to play.Microsoft is crankin' em right out! Sony is as slow as a 3 legged turtle.I don't get it,did I miss a meeting or something?

They are pretty much getting the same. Last Remnant is coming to the PS3. With each exclusive RPG the 360 gets the PS3 also gets one (ex: Tales of Vesperia (360) and Disgaea 3 (PS3) ).

Hmmm.. I love a good RPG and find this interesting. I really haven't followed the present generation of consoles and their games. Is the 360 getting a lot of the Japanese RPGs? If so, my second question would be, has the reliability of the 360 changed with the $199.00 price tag? The reason I ask this is because there has been so much bad press on the poor quality of the systems fizzling out in a short lifespan. I would be hard pressed to spend my hard earned money on something that would not hold up long enough for me to play through a game.
With FF XIII scheduled for the 360 and the system going for a $199.00 price tag, it does present a very tempting situation. And if there are enough Japanese RPGs showing up on that system, I could justify owning one.

Mmm, if they were only good RPG's. The Last Remnant and Infinite Discovery as of late, have been huge let-downs by Square Enix. Some people are thinking Microsoft is putting the pressure on them to get these titles out fast.

Don't forget that the Xbox 360 is also getting the new Star Ocean game exclusively.

I haven't heard much about those two, to be honest. Neither one really appealed to me to begin with, so I haven't followed reviews or anything on those.

But some of the other rpgs the 360 got were great. Tales of Vesperia actually should be scored higher than it was, IMO. And though I haven't played it myself, all of my friends recommend Lost Odyssey as well. And Blue Dragon was also popular.

Could it also be because the PS3 still is extremely highly priced and the majority of people have got Wii's and 360's because it fits better with their budget, therefore it's better to release more on those consoles than with PS3 due to the larger support of customers?

That is exactly the reason.

... not to mention Microsoft is one of the huge PC distributors and PC's get practically everything RPG, so working in cahoots with the console, wouldn't there be RPG equivalents there also? or am i wrong with that assumption (or link for that matter)

they are not bad games at all in my opinion or letdowns...

Last Remnant is plagued by problems that will most likely be remedied on the PS3 version (which will include japanese tracks)
Infinite Undiscovery was a major bore fest that I couldnt stand.

The only one that I saw that was good was Namco Tale of Vesperia and soon the Star Ocean 4.

Not to mention that the only ones that wont be ported are any that has that microsoft branding on it, ie IU, and nothing else, well Mass Effect and Lost Odessy, ,but ME is on PC now.

That would be the case for most genres, but JRPG's are (as the name implies) most popular in Japan. They are the predominant genre there, actually. Because of the 360's horrible sales in Japan, it's possible that the PS3 has a larger market for JRPG's. Why people would put them on the 360 instead is beyond me.

And since we are talking about RPG's in general, let us not forget that the 360 also has Mass Effect. :D

PC's don't get much in terms of JRPG's, but they get tons of MMO's and most WRPG's.

In your opinion yes, but for the majority of people, and the majority of the reviews, they're busts. Definitely not even close on par with some of Square Enix's other titles.

well as you said before reviews mean nothing =/....

Yep, best opinion is your own. I'm just pointing out the general consensus.

well then, so the XBOX360 has these JPRGS but it depends on personal opinion wether they are good or bad, and that can apply to any other console (except the WII which in my library there's only 3 RPGs but at least the 3 are great imo)

Yes, and once again, I was just pointing out the general consensus.

I dont see what the Strubes and Zidart discussion hopes to achieve beyond the commonly stated fact of reviews and personal opinion. I mean in order to have some basic of defining something as good, as this thread stands for, it appears that one would have to go by consensus and media reviews.

I think the discussion would best center on any exclusive RPGS for the 360, which appear to only be Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, Inifinite Undiscovery, Lost Odessy, and Too Human.
For the PS3, I can think of Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice and currently thats it.

That's...what I've been saying. But also, like i said..it's your own opinion that counts. The general consensus, however, is that people don't like these games.

When I get my 360 the day after Christmas, the only JRPG I want to play will be Lost Odyssey, and probably Tales of Vesperia as well.

well apparently reviewers (except GT) and certain amount of people who actually played the game actually didn't like them

though it does seem that most players disliked infinite undiscovery but then again the game was not developed by square-enix itself.

Yep, pretty average scores. Definitely not what's to be expected with SE.
