What's your favourit sword?

(I hope no one minds me posting this here :) )

I am currently writing a paper about sworddesign in computergames and so I was wondering: what video characters's swords catch your fancy, what sword would you say definitly rocks the most, and if you want to help me a great deal: why so?
[Game - Character(if applicable) - Weapon Name - PictureLink (if you want to) - Reason (also if you want to :D)]

This is a serious poll about individual taste, so please don't go arguing or flaming others for their choice. Also this is about swords only (not if I could have helped it) so please no other types of weaponry. Thanks a lot :D
 
I found a couple of rare Sabers in Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2 for the Gamecube that were pretty powerful, outside of that and the pretty strong Halo sword, I don't really play any games that have swords.

I agree with Fr0dus the gunblade is my favorite loved in FF VIII and took the time unlock in Parasite Eve II. The dual weapon of being both gun and sword is interesting and it also gives it a certain amount of rarity even today.

I liked my character's swords in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2.

Mostly because in that game you could customize the weapons.

So I had two scimitars, one that could do ice damage, and one that could do acid damage. Not only did they look awesome (I love scimitars), they could do serious damage.

My Daedric sword in Oblivion is also a good one for the same reason (customization). Not only did it look cool, but I was able to make it so that it could deplete health and armor each time it hit an enemy.

So I guess, I like it when you can customize weapons.

That's about as mean as a shark with a gun for a mouth!

I've favored Japanese curved blades.

But, my favorite swords in Castlevania: Symphony of the night are the Vorpal Blade (single quick slice sword that leaves a blur, similar to Crissaegrim) and the Marsil, a flaming sword that leaves flames in its wake and has a special exploding spell as a secondary attack.

I prefer a Shinto Katana (Samurai style sword) or Ninja-to (a short sword version of a Samurai sword), Rapiers...

... or... as my name suggest... Scythe's... but... that's not a sword.

A Rapier variation, common among renaissance era century naval captains.
 
My favorite sword was from CastleVania Symphony of the Night as well. Masafune Katana. Didn't really cause much damage until you hit D-F + Square to launch the barrage attack.
 
Hey guys, sorry for not replying for so long, my graphicscard went up into smoke and it took me a while to get a new one (and the system up and running again) and on top I caught the flu.

But anyways I wanted to express my thanks for all the replies above, you are a great help :D
