What's up with the Wii Friend codes?

what's up with the Wii Friend Codes?

earlier games were using the Wii system's code... now KNiGHTS has it's own code like the Nintendo DS games do.

Are there other games like KNiGHTS? Do others have it's own friend code? I have a few WiFi enabled games... and besides KNiGHTS... I can't recall others that have their own Friend Code.

Also, I want to play some online Wii games! You all better be ready.

I thought they did have it together when they used the system's code before with madden and other earlier online games.

Why are the games now reverting to the DS style of online play?
It's not bad... and it's free so I am not going to complain too much... I liked how we weren't exchanging tons of friends codes. IT seems that this might be a factor of 3rd party developers... perhaps?

For the sake of this thread, Brawl also has it's own twelve digit code.
