What Is Your Take On Obama Talking To The Students Lately?

I understand that he's the Prez.
He knew what he was getting into, but I think the people are really sweatin' him a little too much. He's only been president for several months, give him a break.

I don't know, but I met one crazy redneck right wing who refused to let his son go to school to hear President Obama. Apparently in some schools, they can sign a waiver for their child to not attend school that day to listen to his speech.

Honestly, I'm scratching my head over all the people making a fuss.

From what I understand, Obama just wanted to tell kids to work hard and stay in school. What's so wrong with that? Seriously? The drop out rate is 30%, why shouldn't someone who is a role model be able to give a speech like that?

Obama exhorted students at Wakefield High School to stay in school, ask for help when they need it and resist giving up when school gets difficult. "You can't drop out of school and into a good job. You've got to work for it and train for it and learn for it."

Are people seriously offended because Obama wants them to learn and work hard? ::)

I feel ashamed at people who are content to be ignorant.

i would have let my kid saw it, but would have told him to believe half of what you hear and none of what you see.

I know...it's amazing, isn't it? I am a bit appalled with all the Obama hate in this Country. God for bid somebody actually wants to do good with this Country and try to change some of the issues that have plagued us for way too many years.

though i am not too knowledgeable about political issues.... i see little reason to rant about this..... he did it for the purpose of inspiring the youth of America which really NEEDS to be inspired since they are the future..... and with a drop rate so high a lot of students need that extra support.

Every President has their "Student Speech." I think much of the rant was more of a, "I don't like you" sort-of thing. Though I do agree that we see too much of him. I think that the less of seeing someone like this the more their words have an impact than someone who is constantly in your face.

Pretty much, people are scared of him. He told something that we ALREADY know and everyone is having a cow about it just to complain.

A big part of the president's job is staying in the public eye. If we aren't seeing a lot of him or hearing about something he's trying to get done, he isn't doing his job.

I'm sorry, but I have been through quite a few presidents in my lifetime. The earliest one that I remember from my childhood was JFK when I was 9 years old. And I do not remember seeing this much of a president before the public eye. It makes me think that he is not doing anything but running around the country.

The President represents us as a people. Him being in the public eye in a positive light makes our country look good. And what the office of President does between 1960 and 2009 has changed a lot, if not on paper than in practice.

This. Couldn't have said it better myself.

So.... the change that we are looking at here that puts him in such a wonderful positive light is, appointing a million Czars that are accountable to no one and to disregard your responsibilities as a President so that you can runaround the country being up and in front of the people? Let Congress and the Senate run the Country? I think that the changes that have been developed in the responsibilities of the President has increased over the years. The President has the jobs of Chief executive, Commander in Chief, Foreign policy director, Legislative leader, Party Leader, popular leader, and Chief of state. I am not denying that he has to maintain a relationship with the people, but what I am saying is that he has responsibilities that should limit his public exposure to a certain extent. This President has been so out there that my thoughts are the Czars, Pelosi and Reed are the ones running the Country.

I'm not sure what you mean by a positive light. If you are referring to the talk to the kids, I am not talking about that. As I said in my previous post, every President has that talk and there should be nothing wrong with that. There was really no reason for people to get so bent out of shape over such a small matter. I think they made an issue out of nothing.
