Virtual Console, what went wrong? Very good article read!

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Special thanks to BlueVoodu for pointing this out.

This writer/reviewer points on the Cons and Suggestions on how Nintendo Wii's VC should be done, but sadly dumps off the savior unto the Nintendo 3DS. *sigh*

However this writer forgets to point out how many imports from the Sega Genesis were added since he's only concern with N64's Sin & Punishment and the NES Super Mario Bros. 2.

YET brings up a very valid point of WHAT WENT WRONG!? A fun fact to throw into the mix, did you know it cost $5,000 to publish one single Virtual Console game for the Wii? Obtaining publishing rights and finding programming people must be an odd job for Nintendo. I think it's time to hire a new crew who is EAGERED to do the job. There are still MANY MANY games missing!

Good article. I loved the idea of the virtual console but stopped paying attention when it failed to pan out. Hopefully the 3DS does do it better. Cartridges and CDs are over ;). Time for video games to catch up.

Says the person who doesn't know why people would buy a PSP without a UMD slot. :P

I haven't had a chance to read the article, but the fact that online isn't really a touted feature like with Xbox or PS3 sealed VC's fate and the lack of internal storage space played a part. It's also lacking a lot of original titles. As far as I can tell, nearly everything on VC is an old re-release. Where are the original titles like Braid, Limbo and Shadow Complex? You would think that a system that is trying to go for gameplay over graphics would have more original VC titles.

something went wrong with VC? I personally enjoy playing old games in my wii since i don't own the systems anymore

It's very dead, they haven't released anything worth anything in a while. I've had 1200 points sitting on my account for like half a year.

She's right Zi. The VC has been so dead and many games have been promised. So far, it's all been ignored and their focus on WiiWare seems to be the target. Like, there are still many NES, SNES, N64, SMS, TG16, Genesis games that could be easily thrown into the mix. Yet nobody is doing a thing under NOA's ruling.
