I see where this person's coming from, but the fact that he says watching a good movie is a good alternative... It's more or less the same thing. :/
Gaming is in fact, a waste of time. Not a complete waste of time, mind you, but if you are obsessed and spend your time doing nothing else, then yes, I would say you were wasting your time. Now, I suppose if you are really enjoying wasting your time, it's not really wasted then, is it? ;)

::) Haters gonna hate and that was completely stupid to say a good movie is a good alternative because your doing the same thing during both activities.

Why don't we say movies,music,art and all other forms of entertainment are a waste of time as well ::). Time enjoyed is not time wasted there for every second that i have gamed has not been a waste of time so i say good day to you sir (even though i don't mean it).
 
Bah

Movies are a far inferior form of entertainment when compared to Video Games. 80% or so of them are terrible, and the last 20% are only worth seeing once or twice. Books are also far inferior forms of entertainment in my opinion. Why read when you can interact and read at the same time?

Also, I might be in the minority here, but I find that being a college student, I only want to read books when I have to, when I have spare time, I don't feel like reading books. I'd rather do something that involves pressing buttons.

It's intentional. I'm trying to get a contrast between the two as far as further discussion goes.That's all. :)
 
:lol Ok ok let me rephrase what I meant...If you have no job, no friends, no life whatsoever, because ALL you do is play video games, than games are wasting your time. I think as long as people can balance responsibility with gaming, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Hope that makes sense and does not offend.

It seems that "Game Testing" would be the perfect job,where you work with your friends.
 
As crazy as it may sound, I actually would not want to play video games for work. I'd love to be a part of them {say a concept artist}, but not actually play/test them. I like to play games for fun and to relax...if I HAD to play them, it would not be fun or relaxing, I think.
