It's Wiip-off! :D

According to unconfirmed (but "exclusive") information on PlayStation LifeStyle, you can toss another waggle wand prototype on the increasingly large pile of potentially non-existent peripherals. The information, supposedly obtained during a PlayStation 3 focus test held in exotic "****** ****, California," describes motion-sensitive PlayStation 3 controllers that operated via a "mini-tripod that stood about 12 inches high."

Several mini-games, including fencing, paintball and the obligatory tennis are said to have been played with the "incredibly responsive and accurate" devices. PlayStation Lifestyle's "proof" comes in the form of a January e-mail inviting PS3 owners to participate in a focus group "discussing PlayStation 3 games." PlayStation forum chatter does seem to indicate that some Underground members were invited to focus tests in Chicago and Los Angeles during that month, but it lends no credence to the rest of the story.

Naturally, Sony told us, "We don't comment on rumors or speculation."

I think I'll pass on this though.

i have to disagree with that *looks at the world ends with you* but i agree that i'll pass on this

Nah, every game, no matter how "unique" it claims to be, borrows elements from another game in some way.

then you haven't played this one :D.

but on the topic at hand... i hope microsoft doesn't do the same thing and that sony is just kidding with this

It borrows RPG elements, yes? And has a time limit, like Breath of Fire IV. :D

But as you said, back to the topic. Why wouldn't you want Sony or Microsoft to do this?

well yeah but the other parts of the game and story are unique (if you want to continue this discussion lets talk in the "the world ends with you" thread)

well because, it wouldn't be unique already, all those mini-games they talk about have already been done in the wii, and besides didn't you hate shovelware? this would bring more shovelware to more consoles. and also i like the DS3 the way it is.

if they make something like this i would agree with you when you say "Nothing in gaming is unique"

Because for the last two years, they've been ripping on the Wii for not being a next-gen console and are now adopting the ideas because it's more successful than them.

If it works, why not? Does this hurt the industry in any way?

The DS3 will not be replaced by no Wii-mote look-alike. Not by a long shot. They're just gonna have some side stuff for the new periph if it comes out.

this would bring more shovelware to more consoles

Actually no. Nintendo doesn't have a say in what 3rd party developers bring to the console. Sony and Microsoft do.

well but what if some good game comes out that needs the use of the wiip-off? then we would need to use that

and if they had the guts to try and copy a wii-remote they might as well copy their strategies as well, they have done it before and they certainly would if they could

If the achievements were like Steam's for TF2 where you get additional weapons and such after completing them then I say go all for it. But, achievements as they are for the majority of the time just gives you a number to make someone feel good.

emmmmmmmmmm...........wrong thread? or i am wrong?

I doubt the Wii would let as many bad on it as the Wii.

that doesn't make sense.... and look at the ideas they wanted to start the peripheral with...

so yeah they would

PS3...and yes, the Wii. The Wii's game selection is the reason I'm selling the Wii.

oook that was random... i was saying that it would be as bad... so if the ps3 gets as bad as the wii you would sell it??

Re: Rumor: PS3-Remote

ooook, and I'm saying it won't be as bad, because Sony has control over what games come out for it, and Nintendo doesn't.

well you can just ignore the bad games anyway.

however i still disagree with this idea... let's see what sony (or microsoft) do because obviously they are copying nintendo here, and like fhq said they are changing they are contradicting their original statements....and well is just a prediction, like you said before in other thread "no one is right no one is wrong" we are just guessing here and we base our guess out of some of the facts present
