But in a business aspect...it's smart because they know it won't sell a whole lot here.

are yo kidding me? you know how popular Suzumiya Haruhi is? i'll let Wikipedia explain for me xD

Cultural impact

The series was extremely popular and has become a cult television series with a large and dedicated fanbase. In December 2006, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was the most popular anime in Japan according to Newtype magazine.[24] Similar to Star Trek's fans as Trekkies, fans of the series call themselves "Haruhiists", and the collective fandom is known as Haruhiism (ハルヒ主義, Haruhi shugi?).[25]

Media sales

DVD sales in Japan have been strong with 70,000 and 90,000 units sold of the first two DVDs respectively as of August 2006.[26] A 2006 online poll of Japan's top 100 favourite animated television series of all time, conducted by TV Asahi, placed the series in fourth place.[27] By the end of 2007, the seventh installment of the series sold 45,000 units.[28] The series has also become somewhat of an internet phenomenon in both Japan, Asia and English-speaking countries. Over 2000 clips of the series and user-created parodies and homages were posted to video sharing websites such as YouTube.[29] The popularity of these clips (and those of other popular Japanese series) led the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) to request that YouTube remove clips protected under copyright.

also the series is based off a series of novels which can be considered "the Japanese Harry potter" and they are going to be released really soon here in America, i think it would be a great time to release a game here.
besides if even Atlus can release the low sales shin megami tensei series here in the US i see why can't sega release Haruhi Suzumiya over here, also Sega released bleach games for the wii and the DS and they brought them to America as well >_> so there is no excuse.....

/Rant

Give it a rest. Plus, your Wiki says it's become a phenomenon online in Japan, Asia, and English-speaking countries. There's ALOT of English-speaking countries....and I've never heard of this personally...or had any of my friends talk about it. Of course personally it's a small percentage...but I can see why Sega wouldn't release this in America, especially since it's a casual system. I remember Bleach at least had the tv show and was popular here before it was released as games. And Shin Megami series is known here...as there are several games released. Haruhi Suzumiya, the same can't be said.

First of all.... Japan + Asia + English speaking countries = A BIG PART OF THE WORLD :lol

i remember Sega Released the WII Bleach game which storyline was set in a different arc from the American Anime (which gave some people some spoilers) so if sega can break the rule that Naruto games and other Anime games don't break... i don't see why can't they at least experiment with Suzumiya Haruhi, specially now that the manga and novels are being released in the US

Persona 4 has sold 518,000 units worldwide and is the best selling Megami Tensei game in the series... so is not that popular (sadly >:()

it might be true that they might not get any sales, but they could at least try.... look at shining force, sega released this game on the US even though the Genre was not very popular back then (reason why nintendo did not release Fire emblem over here and therefore Shining force took some credit) they still tried... other Final Fantasy games were not released in America before because of the same fear, now they have great sales.

Sure Haruhi Suzumiya games might be a simple Party/casual game but heck it deserves at least a try here in America....

Big part of the world =/= America.

I'd love to see it, but it would be a waste of their money to try and sell this game to the casual market.

Yes, but it's still considered a recent release, so it's sales still have time to grow. But then again, it's a series that is tried and true. Not in the sales department for sure, but it has a cult following in the U.S., and each Persona game keeps getting better and better reviews...fantastic reviews actually.

I agree. However, the cult games for the Wii haven't sold a lick in America...and I'm sure Sega knows that.

......so because is a worldwide phenomenon.... it shouldn't be released in America? that makes no sense....

Reviews have nothing to do with Sales which is what the Developers really want, and i am pretty sure that Shin megami tensei games had a first try on the Western coast before, so whoever was publishing the series back then was smart and gave it a try...

I find it ironic how Sega's putting out alot of great titles on the Wii...almost more so than Nintendo itself.

if they know this so much then why do they make ALOT of great titles on the Wii?

Mmm...try reading my points again. I don't get where you're coming from on that one. I'm saying, it's not as big in America as it is in other places. That's why Sega isn't taking the chance. Get it?

*sigh*..I don't think you understood where I was going with that. I wasn't dissing the Wii.

yes i did read them, and again it does not make any sense.... if something is a worldwide phenomenon why not release it here? America is one of those English speaking countries i mean there is even an ASOS Brigade (which stands for American SOS Brigade) there is tons of Haruhists in conventions and all that.... the sort of attention this anime gets deserves at least a try.

i was not saying you were dissing the Wii... i mean there was a clear contradiction in what you just said...

so how come sega is releasing a lot of great titles for the wii yet they know that the games for the wii haven't sold a lick in America?

and seriously, there is nothing else to discuss here... I wished for this game to come here and you do not, I am mad at Sega because they could do like other companies (or like they have done in the past) and release it in America and you are not... so it's obvious that the one frustrated by these news is me and not you. I already presented backed up reasons for why Haruhi suzumiya game (or games) should be released here...

Guess it's not big enough to catch Sega's eye. Nuff said.

And clearly..you didn't get what I was referring to..yet again. I said the cult-followed games for the Wii haven't sold that much. You quoted this yourself.

That's why what I said wasn't a contradiction. To be a contradiction, you have to oppose your own belief. I said Sega's putting out alot of great games on the Wii. Cult games don't always mean great games. They just have a cult following.

which is exactly my whole point....... i am mad at Sega because they are blind >:(
