The Official Wii U Thread.

I don't think that this is a good idea to make another new system. the original Wii doesn't have a ton of good games to begin with!!
I disagree. Now is the perfect time to launch a new console- The Wii's fan base was mainly casual gamers. It's been 5 years since launch. Everyone either moved on to hardcore gaming or left their wii alone for ages.
As for the Wii not having any good titles... Mad World, SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, Metroid Prime 3, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Galaxy, SMG2, Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Mario All Stars, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Golden Eye (Yes, I liked it :P), Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing, Okami, Skyward Sword will be coming out for the Wii soon... And those I just some of the exclusive titles. There's also a lot of good third party games, as well.
The Wii DOES have a ridiculous amount of shovel ware, the bad does greatly out weigh the good, but the good is still there if you look for it.

The investors aren't pleased with the Wii U. Nintendo's stock dropped another 5% once it was announced. Also, hearing that you can only use one Wii U Pad per console is saddening. No coop? Or will you be forced to use Wii accessories?

Probably they will continue to use the wii remote/classic controller pro. But nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

And the investors can go get lost in a forest for all I care... specially since Sony probably got a huge hit right there too but the quality of their products did not decrease

It's really no different from the original Wii other than being able to support a tablet controller and HD graphics on top of Wii Remotes.

It's like how the DS went up to the DSi. Same console really, except the DSi had slightly more power and cameras.

The WiiU is really Wii 2.0.

That would make more sense and sounds a lot better, imo XD

MY bad!!! i leave my Wii at my folks and thanks to college, i haven't exactly had any money to buy or even look for games. plus i only visit my folks on the weekends. well... most of the weekends. but yeah now that i read that list.... there ARE some epic games!!!

now i still think that this isn't that good of a move though to introduce a new system. the interesting thing is, i went to gamestop today and saw a few walls and a large bin of PS2 games! and a very small rack with Gamecube and games and two walls of Wii next to it. PS2 was the main system for a long time and produced a ton of games! Nintendo has not hit that level yet! i think they need to make more games.

ALSO, Nintendo has always been family friendly, that's why, in my opinion, they should hold off about two or three more years.

Perhaps you should consider the fact that you've been out of the loop before your make such a statement next time.
As for the Wii vs. PS2, the Wii will never be as great as the PS2 was. They're releasing a new system because they're not making money of the old one. You can't expect them to sit there and watch their profits fall and fall and fall... The Wii has loads of game, it's just that 75% of them, nobody wants to play. Sad, but true.
I'm also curious, how does being family friendly have anything to do with when you release a new console?
